What usually happens with a shuttle shift or HST tractor is the rather rapid change of direction imposes large enertia forces via the drivers body weight , even mowing around trees will put sideways thrust on the mounts on a manual trans tractor . It may help to use large body washers above and below the seat bolts to help spread the the twisting forces on the sheet metal .

A real cutie you have there Andy. I see you are busy changing diapers, perhaps?

I've got the same cracks on my TC18

Andy, I hadn't heard from too many TC18 owners with that problem. I'll have to keep an eye on mine now.

I received my warranty replacement from NH today at no cost. It looks like there has been some improvements to the bracket. Basically, the area where the seat attaches has been increased to a double thickness. I'll try and take some pics and post later.

My tc24d broke in the same way you described. I added some reinforcement and use larger washers at the mounting bolts.

Yes, please do! Mine just broke this past Sunday, with 350 hours and just over 3 years old.

Thanks

I bought my TZ18 used with 50 hours on it. I noticed that I do not have the added bracket in mine. At the front of my seat ot looks like the metal has dented in a little where the seat bolts down. So all I have to do is call the dealer to get the new bracket? I will put it on myself.

Sorry, it's been a little while since I posted last. I had a trip to Orlando, then another to Auburn, so I haven't had a chance to post pics. I did swap the seat bracket with the warranty replacement one. In the pics you can see where the metal under the bolt area is now double thickness. It only seems to be tack welded on, so it may not stay attached long. I still have my original which I plan on repairing and beefing up considerably. Once that is done, I will swap them and beef this one up a bit as well. Replacement was pretty simple. Remove seat and attached bracket. 2 bolts on floor on each side, and one in the wheel well each side. Remove parking brake and 3-pt lift return spring and a little maneuvering it is out. Reverse everything for installation.
