New Holland TC24DA
Today I ordered my new TC24DA, W/FEL 12LA, 48"bucket, and R-4 tires....$16,290 before tax. I am also getting a GBS48 Gearmore box scraper for $740, a D20 gearmore post hole digger for $565, 6" auger bit for $120, and a ripper w/ shovel blade for $270. I think I got a fair deal for Southern CA and was treated well at the dealer.

I was going to get a Kubota BX23 and kept looking at the New Holland TC24DA....It was what I really wanted the whole time. The BX23 reminded me too much of a Garden tractor. I felt more comfortable behind the wheel of the TC24DA. I spent many hours reading over what others have said about wishing or being glad they got the bigger tractor. Even if I wanted the Kubota It may not have been possible because they turned down my credit application. It might have been because I did not offer more down. On the New Holland I put more down and got a 4yr 5% loan on the balance.

Thanks for all your posts on this site so I could compare tractors and figure out what would be good for me. I am on 2.42 Acres of hillside dirt and granite rock. I have a long driveway that snakes 3/4 of the way up to the house that needs to be cleaned up after it rains. (no laughing, it rains here sometimes!) I plan to level out areas and dig into the hillside a bit. I am hoping that ripper and some teeth on that 48" bucket will do the job. The box scraper has some nice rippers too. I got the smaller bucket thinking I may have a better chance digging with it.

I can't afford the Back hoe right now! Does anyone have any pointers for me on digging with the Loader bucket and what kind of teeth to get for it and where to get them?

Maybe I will have to rent an escavator or back hoe and use my tractor to move the dirt around...I hate the thought of renting when I just bought a new tractor!

I also look forward to using it on a 20 acre property I have in Nevada...this smaller CA property will give me some experiance before I play in the dirt up there!

Any and all thoughts are welcome!

Congratulations Brian! You are indeed a lucky man to get a new tractor AND new implements at the same time /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. I think a toothbar is a must for digging into your hillside. The manual for the loader offers some pointers for digging but nothing beats seat time for learning /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Enjoy that new rig and post some photos if possible.

Good luck with the new tractor, you'll love it! You will need a toothbar for sure. I just built this one for under a $ 100.00. It tears up the dirt just fine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Even my dog thinks it look's pretty good. Start slow and you will need some kind of weight in the back to hold the tractor down.

That toothbar you made looks great! Is that on a 48" bucket or a 54". I have thought of making one myself. Are those teeth hardened?

I got the teeth and Adapters from the pretty lady at Fabco, I ordered 8 tooth adapters, the D 58499 because they fit my bucked thickness and the 8103C teeth to go with them. They are on a 5' bucket on my new NH TC 33D and I think they are hardened, When I sharpened them it took a while to grind them sharp.

I am going to get a toothbar from Markham welding in NC. It is about $250 with shipping to me in CA. The only thing is I can't order it untill I get my tractor because they need me to measure the inside of the bucket 8" inches back from the edge.
