TC24DA
Just got a TC24DA. This is my first hydro tractor. Previously I owned a Kubota L245DT gear driven tractor. The TC in high gear seems very underpowered (unable to go up a sttep hill). Low gear is better but still it is possible to be in possitions where the hydro pedel is pushed all the way down but none of the tire would spinning. With my kubota in low gear. It was impossible to get into possitions were the tires wouldn't spin. Maybe thats the charecteristics of hydro and I just need to get used to it. Also, My old kubota loader would lift the tractor by tilting the bucket all the way forward, lowering itto the ground, and then pulling the tilt back. This was very helpful when the tractor is stuck. My TC24DA dosent have the power to do that. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

On a hydro tractor, you have to maneuver the pedal differently than say an automatic car. The farther you press on the hydro pedal, you do go faster but lose power. If you need to do something that requires a bit of power, don't push the pedal all the way down. Just push it slightly. If you need more traction, just put it in low. I hope I could explain it ok. If not, I'm sure someone else can do it better. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

as JAYC statted back off the hydo pedal, and that tractor should lift the front end off the ground, just curl the bucket all the way downd then drop it and it should lift it right up in the air.

For climbing hills you are not talking about POWER you are talking about GEARING. There is a huge difference.

My Kubota B2910 needs to go into low or mid gear range to climb one of my hills, it needs low range to even start up my steep hill, which I learned the hard way is the wrong thing to even attempt with that tractor. My NH TC24D must be in low range on any of the hills, but it only has 2 speed ranges, where the larger Kubota has 3.

Hydros are different that gear tractors, you will get the hang of it.

Any hydro, including mine is the very same way in range II. I am sure that you remember your gear drive tractor. If you were sitting at the bottom of a steep hill you wouldn't try a run at it, starting in high gear, and if you think about it that is eactly what you are doing.

Try range I and start slow, then build your speed without dropping RPMs. You will get used to the HST very quickly. I relly like mine, I don't miss that clutch or missed gears at all. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
