TC 29DA
I have 3 acres of yard/field/woods. In order to make 1.5 acres of field into a yard I will be spreading roughly 100 tons of various fills. I have a TC26DA being fitted-dealer looking for a backhoe(756). He also tells me he has 4 29's on the lot and that they are not that much more- he is not pushing me to buy one-just an option-I think my talk of powering a chipper brought that option to his mind. My question is would the size of a TC29 be a hindrance on a 3 acre lot with mostly lawn, some garden. I do have a some trees that I would like to chip for mulch and remove stumps. I also like the telescoping 3PH and steering wheel.

Thanks for your advice.

TractorDale,
Since the TC29 is larger than the TC26, are there many obstacles to have to manuveur around? It's wider, but not much longer. Weighs probably 700 lbs more.

I don't have many obstacles to maneuver around now, and as I design the landscape a top priority is easy maintenance. I need to get through a 60" fence opening to mow/maintain part of the property, and I have sprinkler heads there but I believet turf tires will protect them from the added weight- reasonable conclusion?

thanks for the help

TractorDale:
Welcome to TBN. I have a NH TC29DA and am very satisfied with its performance and manuverability on my property. According to the marketing/sales brochures I have the 29D and 25D have essentially the same weight and dimensions (I do not know the specifications of the TC26DA.). My tractor is ~ 54+" wide with the rear tires dished in. The outer dimension of my FEL is 61" which could be problematic with your narrow gate. You may also have to consider the width of any attachments you may add to your 3PH- my tiller is ~ 63" wide. If you will be spreading ~ 100 tons of fill you will probably need a landscape rake and/or a rear blade as well as the FEL. The recommended width for a rear rake/blade for this size tractor is 84". As to the BH look at your intended use- do you need to spend ~ +$4K on an attachment you may use only rarely and then have to store somewhere when you need to use other attachments? I will add that I would really like to have a BH, but in reality I would not use it to the extent that it would justify its cost and "She Who Must Be Obeyed/Comptroller" would not be /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif . Give us a little more information on your profile and property characteristics and we will share with you our collective "wisdom" as well as help you spend your money. Thanks for the help Jay. I live in Connectict which means that whenever you put a spade into the ground you hit a stone. My property is spiit into 2 parts-1/2 acre finished lawn around a pool-60" gate to get in-could widen it, and 2 acres of field behind my house which is sloping away from a stone border wall down to a woods. Plan on a fence someday-PHD. There is a separate elevated area 50'x80' with a curved stone wall-don't know what it was for-some type of garden-it rests in the far background of the picture attatched. Scattered around the property are lots of trees-some need pruning, others need removing-just bought the home and not much was done for years. There are stone outcropings all over the place and their shape and nature suggest truly enormous proportions. I am mindful of the cost/benefit of this expensive equipment but it will make me happy for many years and my wife is all too supportive. I originally was looking at a BX24-nice scut, but then I put my hands on and drove a TC26...
