Re: TC29D doesn\'t start every now and then

Doh! After tearing the tractor apart, it was the 30 amp fuse near the starter! Now that i think of it, i had forgotten to turn off the lights the last time i shut down. Must have been too much of a draw.

Re: TC29D doesn\'t start every now and then

I'm not sure what is going on with your NH, but leaving the lights on would not burn out a 30 amp fuse. Something else fried that fuse. Possibly a short in the ign switch.
That 30 amp fuse is pretty big, maybe your main fuse, providing 360 watts of power. Your lights would not draw over somewhere about 55 watts each, prolly a lot less. Something big shorted that fuse out, and you will need to find it. If you don't find a bare wire touching the frame, I would think ign swich or maybe starter solenoid, but I'm not sure that the solenoid is fused.

Actually if I have my lights on, the two extra lights I added and the glow plugs at the same time, Puuufffffff goes the fuse. Yes the big fuse. So I have to make sure that I at least have my two lights on my roll bar off before I hit the ignition.

Re: TC29D doesn\'t start every now and then

That makes sense. I thought you meant the lights were burning after the tractor was shut down, and that itself poofed the fuse.

Re: TC29D doesn\'t start every now and then

While trying to sort out my starting problem, I had the same 30A fuse blow when my lights were on. I sorted that out and my starting problem returned. The dealer came out (again) and fixed my original starting problem. I don't know all the technical terms for what they've done, but they ran secondary wires directly to the selenoid b/c the starter wasn't getting enough voltage...assuming voltage was lost as it passed through all the safety switches. btw, the safety switches still work too. It's worked wonderfully ever since.

Re: TC29D doesn\'t start every now and then

I am not as knowledgeable as most participants on this site but I did have this same problem on my TC25 and found that the bezel on the ignition switch was not "nutted down" all the way and thus the part of the switch that protrudes through the center of the bezel, and needs to be pushed in for the final ignition position, could not travel the required distance in and thus there was no ignition.

Once tightened I have not had the problem since.
