TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

Folks,
Good morning.
My tractor has ~ 75 hours on it and, when new it would stop moving right after removing my foot from the hydro pedal, whether fwd or rev.
Of course, if there was a heavy load in the FEL, the momentum may propel it somewhat forward, but with no load, it was responsive to releasing the hydro pedal. It still stops quickly in reverse, but when in fwd, the unit will continue to move forward for another 1-2 seconds. If I "tap" the hydro pedal toward reverse when the unit is still rolling forward (when it should have already stopped), it will stop as soon as the pedal is tapped in reverse.
I've recently had my 50-hour service completed on my TC29D. A couple of "no big deal" warranty issues and the one that was a "must fix", is what I've described above. Unfortunately, this "must"fix" has turned into a disagrement with the dealer and myself. In my mind, this is a real safety issue.
The dealership found nothing abnormal during the 50-hour service and has since visited again and found nothing wrong. The technician was going to review NH's database of service issues and get back with me, but has not.
Does anyone with a TC29D (or 25D/33D) have this type of problem? A friend at work says that his 29D stops almost immediately after removing his foot from the pedal. Again, I'm not talking about a heavy load on the FEL. I was mowing the grass last weekend and it continued to creep along w/o the FEL connected and only pulling a finish mower behind.
I'd appreciate your comments on this. I'd like to continue with this dealer and don't want to involve NH directly, but the local dealer is unresponsive to my complaint. Perhaps some input from the other owners on this board may make him realize that this is indeed a problem with my tractor that needs to be fixed.
Thanks for your time,
Rob

Re: TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

Rob, I have a TC25D and have the same problem. Lifting off the treadle doesn't quite return it to neutral, i.e., stop the tractor. I had the dealer look at it during the 50 hour service (100 hours ago). They couldn't see anything wrong so they just lubricated it, which didn't help. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

There was an issue with the Class III Boomers doing this, however the pedals are separate for reverse and forward. The answer was adjusting a return spring and lubricating the pedals if I remember correctly. Perhaps there is a similar adjustment on the Class II's?

Re: TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

My 33D does it also, lubing the zerk fitting underneath does seem to help a little. My dealer says that sometimes they have had problems with the cruise control sticking. I guess the cruise system uses magnets or something like that. He told me to turn the cruise on and turn it off again and see if it helps, and sometimes it does seem to help a little. I have just gotten use to putting my heal on the reverse side of the peddle to stop.

That's what I've been doing as well. However, it'd be nice if it would work as designed.

If it is happening to a lot of us then it is working as designed /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I guess it should have been designed better.

Good point! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif BTW, what happened to your animated signature?

Re: TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

Rob - I'm in the same boat as Mike and Spencer. I'm not sure I can help, but I can provide a bunch of information that might help.

First, read this post:

Hydrostatic drive sticking

And this one:

Grease on Cruise Control Electromagnet

I still have some trouble with it. Mostly when it's not warmed up good yet, so I might have the problem discussed in this post:

HST pedal not returning to neutral

I haven't done this yet though.

One more thing to point out. I went to a dealer and test drove a new one a while ago:

Hydro drive response on TC24/25/29/30/33

I'm to the point where I've just gotten used to it. I still want to try adjust the dampening shock someday, but it requires pulling the dash panel off and I haven't had time. If I let someone else drive it, I make sure I warn them about it. My wife did a wheelie one day because I forgot to tell her about it!

Mike, I dropped Earthlink as my internet service provider last year (when I switched to DSL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). I had the animated signature file located on their server and I guess they just now wiped my files clean. It was about time I came up with something new anyway so I will get to work on that soon.

Re: TC29D doesn\'t want to stop

Perhaps they're using the same check balls that they're using in the 7308 "normal bleed down" loaders. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Seriously, I don't have 1 to look at but here are some thoughts. However the linkage hooks up to the treadle, it should freely hook up when in the neutral position. Sounds like several have suggested, but don't see where anyones checked it. Also, it sounds like a prime candidate for a 1/16 turn adjustment on a flow control valve. This would need to be checked by someone familiar with it or with the manual to know which one and of course which direction. I've had some slowly idling hydraulic circuits where the flow control valve wasn't quite centering and allowed somebleed in neutral. Someone fix the dang thing and let us know what ya come up with. OR, buy a new new 1, send me the old and in return for the tractor, I'll post the fix for all! Always glad to help! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
