Looks pretty good! Nice to see a hydrostatic transmission in their "economy - no frills" model! I tested a TC29D when I was tractor shopping a liked it a lot, but found it a little too much money. Might have liked this one had it been around!

"no frills"? I just looked at it on the NH web site and it looks like it has pretty much everything my TC29D has, but with a bigger engine and for less money! If they'd have come out with this a year earlier I'd probably have one. I wonder if anyone on this board has one? I like the arm rests on the seat. I'd probably use those a lot more than I use the swivel on my seat.

You probably already know this, but for everyone's benefit, the armrests can be purchased as an option for the seat on the 25D, 29D, and 33D. About $50 is what I paid for mine ... Hope this helps.Jim

I got to see one this weekend. Riddle, a NH dealer in Spencer, IN, has 2 of them, both 4WD. I can see a lot of similarities in design as compared to the JD 790, except these were hydrostats and the JD 790 does not come in a hydrostat. These were no frills, no tilt wheel, no folding ROPS, basic 3pt hitch, no swinging drawbar, no swivel seat, etc. There not as roomy as a Boomer and the controls are more rudimentary. For example, the hydrostat pedal was a simple steel pedal rather than the cast iron one on a Boomer. I’ll bet it sells great, since it’s a nice tractor for the money without the fancy features for those who don’t need them.

I've been seriously considering the TC30, but I haven't been able to find one yet that I can climb on. Everytime I stop at a NH dealer, they "guide" me over to the Boomers. And when I finally convince them that I want to see the TC30, I find out they don't have any/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif. I love the looks of the Boomers, but my pocket book isn't quite that thick (unless I don't want to eat for a few months!/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif) Fortunately, I still have some time before I'll be buying, so I'll be able to see what comes out later. But I do like it better than the 790, mainly because of the hydro.

Howdy!

Not to be completely negative, but I've stopped by both of my local NH dealers, and no one at either dealership, from sales to parts to service had a good thing to say about the TC30. They all gave the same explanation...."Cheap."

They seem to be grumbling that JD and their 790 is really taking the compact tractor market into the "lawnmower user" arena. They don't mind the lower-end products so much as the buyers who come in looking to nickle & dime them to death. They want a tractor, but don't want to pay the price for tractor durability or engineering. So NH has responded with the lowest cost tractor they could to compete with the 790.

Understand that I'm not commenting on any fine folks here who are interested in the TC30. I don't get into that. My only personal comment, from sitting on a few of the TC30's, is that the metal fenders seem flimsier than the plastic ones on my TC29D. I haven't driven one, yet.

Later,
Jay
