TC30 - First Look

Jay -

Thanx for the input. That's the kind of info. I'm always looking for. I probably should have made my statement about the thickness of my wallet a different way. I'm always willing to pay for quality, and in the case of NH, if the TC29 or 29D are clearly the better quality machine over the TC30, I'd go with either one of them. I just meant that since I hadn't had a chance to "wiggle" the fenders personally, the paper comparisons of the two models made the TC30 look fairly inviting. I know whatever I end up buying is going to be one rugged, well built machine, because I'm buying it to work for me. At this point, I'm not locked into any particular model, or color. I'm just looking for the info. that will allow me to get the most bang for my buck/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Also if you want a swinging drawbar that is available thru the parts system.

its funny that those dealers would say that the real important stuff like the drive train and engine are exactly what the boomer series uses.

I'll bet you "dollars-to-donuts" those Boomers have a much higher margin.

yes boomers have a higher published margin than the tc30, its published margin is only 7% no settlement allowance from New Holland either, it will be tough for us dealers to discount much from list.

Spencer,
A little off subject but I bought a Ford 1720 with a 7108 loader from a dealer in January. They didn't have the manuals for the tractor or loader but agreed to order them for me. They indicated that they sometimes take a while to get but here it is March and I still haven't seen them. What kind of experience do you have getting manuals? CHUCK

Thanks for the offer, but I'm in the midwest. Unfortunately my lunch hour isn't long enough to get out there /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif!

Hey Guys,

Don't shoot the messenger! Just relaying what I was told. I have no real interest in the TC30, so it's of no difference to me one way or the other. Truth be told, I'd rather see more blue tractors out there.

The dealer I purchased from got 4 of these in last October or so. They've sold all four. I did sit on them once they had them assembled [they come in a big crate instead of assembled like the Boomers]. Seemed OK but alot more basic than my TC29D. Both dealers told me they were based more on the 1720's, with the Boomer hydo grafted on, than on the regular TC series. Said, though, that not all the parts cross-referenced to the 1720's nor the TC's. So, my impression was that it was neither a true 1720 nor a Boomer underneath the sheet metal.

They did note that the 3-pt has some real lift capacity vs the JD 790. Apparently, that thing has a very "lightweight" 3pt capacity.

Later,
Jay

“the 3-pt has some real lift capacity vs the JD 790. Apparently, that thing has a very "lightweight" 3pt capacity”

That’s exactly right Diesel_Jay, the JD 790 has a 3pt lift capacity of only 815lbs, which is one of the reasons I didn’t buy one (I came real close before buying my Boomer). Even the TC18 has a higher 3pt lift capacity at 1265lbs, and the TC25 through TC33, including the TC30, have a 3pt lift capacity of 1635lbs. Both JD and NH specs are 24” aft of the hitch. If the TC30 is priced right, it will take a lot business from JD.
