I have a TC30 with a 1738 Loader. I've noticed after doing some bucket work and back dragging with the bucket after a while the bucket, when I dump it all the way to back drag, it just flops. If I put the bucket all the way back and hold it, it'll hold there but if i leave it at mid point it just flops. It has no pressure to leave it locked in the position I leave it in. I contacted the dealer and they're looking into it but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone else has expierenced this and if the had a fix for it. It seems to me that a pressure valve isn't holding. It's still under warranty but if I can fix it easy it's better than trucking it to the dealer. Thanks

In an answer to my own question here's some info. I've just received a response from NH and it may be important to other NH owners with a 7308. It reads as follows "In regards to your TC30 loader and the swinging bucket. Apparently when used certain ways the bucket cylinders can cavitate creating an oil shortage in the bucket cylinders. Usually when back dragging according to New Holland. There is a remedy for this and it would be covered under warranty. It involves installing a restrictor orifice to remedy the problem, (you will not see a slow down on loader functions)" They go on to say that it may be something I can install myself. The Service Dept. will contact me when the part comes in and will discuss the options. I'll post the results.

After 3 years mine has never done that. So I suppose two years down the road it will start and warranty is off!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Oops guess my warranty is off already. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Regenerative valve spools used to be standard equipment to prevent this symptom. Problem is, so many folks were using that (bucket) circuit to operate power angle plow cylinders and the like that they quit using the regenerative valves because of operational problems in those applications. Dumping the bucket rapidly allows more oil to escape the rod end of the cylinder than what can be supplied to the base end by the pump. That causes cavitation, or an air bubble in the cylinder.

I'm betting that the engine rpms are low when the bucket is being dumped. Running the engine at around 1500-1700 rpm helps keep the cavitation to a minimum, but if the load is heavy (wet soil or stone) the orfice will have to be installed.

My tc18 with woods fel does the same. Curious if installing the orfice has any drawbacks, like slow operation? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Does anyone have a part number or service bulletin number that I could reference for this? My LX114 loader is experiencing the same thing with the bucket not keeping pressure. I'm also having trouble with the "fast dump" not working; I'm not sure if that's related to this or not.

A friend has a John Deere 4110 that did the same thing. The final factory fix was to install the orifices in the return lines from the dump cylinders.

just spoke to the NH dealer, parts not in yet. there are three small parts involved, fittings and orfice. I am reassured by NH that it will not effect operation of loader in any way except to correct the problem. Dealer doesn't know yet if it's DIY baecause he's never had to install one. The RPM's make no differance. I usally do loader work between 1800 - 2000 RPM's. plenty to lift and drag but when it let's go you can move the bucket up and down with your hand. no pressure whats so ever. i'll get the part # and the fix when it comes in.
