Your problems sound like the ones I had when my ign switch wore out. Replacing the switch cured mine. (1700).

Thanks, that's what I thought at first, then I jumped over the terminal on the switch and it still clicked like it had been. Probably is the switch though, it's been used by stupid people that don't know enough to push it in and turn it gently. I think I'll take it in for testing next time I am headed past the dealer's. Can't imagine what one of those things cost.Maybe I'll just put a push button on it to by-pass the push in and turn aspect of the device? It runs fine right now, and at least I can actually use it and drive it onto my trailer to take it down the road.

According to Messicks, the ignition switch for a TC29D made between 9/1998 and 9/2002 is part number 86569718 and costs $74.57.
