Jmofr, that part number was not valid at my NH dealer. Can you double check it again? Thanks!

Unfortunately, I threw my packaging and my receipt away after I posted the number, but I'm pretty sure the number I posted was correct. The spring I bought was in stock at the local dealer which was very unusual based on past purchasing experience.

The spring I removed was so stiff I couldn't compress it by hand, but the new spring was slightly compressible by hand and it was a little smaller in diameter.

I checked the number and it was correct. Perhaps I should have included the prefix of "SBA". I am including photos of a new spring with measurements and the packaging photo. The cost of the new spring I purchased today was $2.13.

Changed the spring on my 33d after reading this thread. Works much better, well worth changing. However as expected, still have to double clutch to line up gears once in a while.

Thanks keep the good info coming,, Ron

Glad to hear of somone else's success in changing the spring.

Something I forgot to mention when I saw this thread is: I had been to the local NH dealer and talked with the service manager and he walked me out to the mechanic in the shop who worked on the tractors and the mechanic talked about splitting the tractor to correct the problem. $$$$$

I am having the same trouble on a brand new TC34DA. On the NH parts online both the TC30 and the TC34DA call out the same spring 398210460
which is not the one you guys show as the replacement 398210280.
I guess NH is still shipping machines with the old spring? Got to get a spring

Talked to the Service manager They have the spring in stock. Here comes an interesting question. I will ask him Monday when I get up there if the warrenty is void if I swap it out myself. Be interesting to see what they say. one would think there would be somekind of service note on this and they would fix them at least at the dealer before they sell them.

I too have an 2006 TC34DA, I might have to give this new spring a try since my lever can be hard to engage from time to time. Question, how hard is it to put the spring in? Is there a lot of junk to take apart. I have not even looked yet and was just wondering what others will say. Thanks!
