What if MF went down would it be wise to keep TC33D around?

Heres some TC33D's for sale around U.S.A might give you an idea what yours is really worth. If it was me I would be inclined to go "THE JINMAN ROUTE".

I would get rid of it/sell it now. Why should you take a chance on something happening to a tractor you don't need? If you liquidate that asset, you can buy into a mutual fund based on energy or pharmaceuticals and make enough money that will grow at a fast rate. If you are ultra-conservative, buy a money market account. You'll not have to worry about theft, keeping fluids changed, fires, or somebody using and wrecking your tractor. Keep your life simple and let your money work for you. When the auto makers were in trouble and their stocks took a dive, I looked at Ford and its not taking public funds in a bailout as strength. I bought Ford stock for under $3 per share and today it is worth $12.97 a share. Just imagine what some wise investing can do with the money you'll get for that tractor.

what is it worth, vs what will it cost to replace plus the investment income, minus any rental fees if you need one during that time.

with the economy like it is, I'd say it's sales value won't be as high as you want, then when you repalce it, same capability mahcine will cost alot more... can't imagine you can make enough $$ at 4% interest to do any good, unless you get lucky and actually make money int he stock market like jim did..

of course.. this from a guy with a barn full of tractors.. so take it for face value.. :)

I'm really leaning to selling and paying down the house note, not too much left to go... Or investing. The only real benefit we get is it keeps the in-laws a little happy out on the farm, sort of pays our rent on some pasture.

After looking at the other for sale ads, with the cutter and box blade, I should be able to sell for $16,500 or better. And funny enough, my Father in law bent one of the hydraulic lines the other day, not a big deal but mildly aggravating.

Thanks a bunch guys, I really appreciate the thoughts, although I'm still undecided. Maybe I'll put a high price on it and wait to see what happens.

I think I'd sell also. There's lots of better tractors to replace it with anyway when that day arrives. I have the same tractor as yours, and actually do not like it at all. Its the goofiest dang thing the way they put the forward/reverse pedal on the same side as the brakes. Its impossible to use the brakes individually and go ahead or in reverse at the same time.... A real peice of engineering... I always wondered if they hired engineers from china or what??? Anyway, good luck!
