I may be in the minority here, but. Before you go off half cocked, why don't you ask your dealer about the hours. He may have a good reason for them.

I agree with Jerry. I understand why you are upset, but maybe the dealer had a bad day. After all Spring is the "busy season".

Call dealer - have them explain about the hours. Have them send out a tech to go over machine mechanically & to explain it to you. Also have dealer give you dates when your implements will arrive. My MMM took 6 weeks to come in, but the dealer loaned me a RFM while I waited.

Negotiate compensation for your stress - maybe free 50 hour service?

Anyone ever go to bed without making it first?? I know if I do, I don't sleep as well as if it were made with all the sheets pulled tight. I think that a NEW unit is in order here, as that is what was ordered, period! G

The analogy escapes me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The issue is one of how to approach the dealer, i.e., get the facts before exploding at the dealer. However unlikely, there may be a good explanation.

Analogy....is as was stated.
By keeping this particular unit, how good would you sleep? Not good I'm sure. He needs to get rid of it.
We, knowing how this was supposed to be a NEW unit, and to be delivered one as this unit was, is grounds for an immediate removal and a FULL refund TODAY. There is NO excuse for this what-so-ever. What will this dealer try to pull next?? I know that I would'nt be losing any sleep. G

Reading such horror stories, I've changed my mind as to what I recommend to people looking for a tractor. While people still have to determine what they want to use a tractor for, I am convinced that the single most important part of the purchase is selecting a dealer. Forget about manufacturer, forget about model, forget about features, forget about price and shop for a dealer first. Evaluate their customer service, evaluate their sales people, ask for customer references, evaluate their service department, etc. Once you've eliminated the bad dealers, then and only then, begin looking for the right tractor to meet your needs.

I'm sure the dealer wouldn't expect you to only give him part of the money, thus I don't want part of my equipment. Secondly, If I purchased new I would want brand new. 11 Hours isn't much but it depends what went on in those 11 hours. I would give the dealer a chance to make it right and then cancel the deal if he didn't.

I am not saying that this is correct but could you be misreading the tach. I have had many customers think they have gotten tractors with more than 10 hours on them until I explain to them how the tach reads. The last number on the tach should be preceeded with a decimal point as in 1.1 I dont know if this is your case or not but just a thought. Most dealers are honest folks just trying to make a living like you. I dont think that most would purposely try to screw the customer it would just come back to haunt them in the end, and yes I do realize there are some out there that do just that!

Nope, I just checked again, it says 11.7 hours.

Good advice! While I really like this model tractor, I did like other dealers better and it would probably be worth it to go with another brand to get a great dealer.

So far have talked to the owner this morning who knows nothing about the transaction (salesperson is out until afternoon). I am sure he will try to talk me into keeping this tractor when he gets back to me this afternoon. If I cannot get a new tractor, any idea what cash discount could be expected for this unit? Again, its not the 11 hours so much as the 11 hours without a full radiator (I don't know how much is in there, I can't see any fluid with a flashlight down about 3 inches).

I think I would insist on a new unit.

Well so much for that idea! Hopefully your dealer will make it right with you. With 11 hours New Holland would still consider this a New unit they do not require downpayment from the dealers until they get over 20 hours on them. The formula they use is 12.00 per hour so not much of a discount for 11.7 hours.
