TC35 rusted clutch

Another question is where can I get a clutch alignment tool for this tractor NH TC35 over the Internet cheap. I have bought turned wooden one's that worked fine on automobile clutches and I don't need a silver plated one. Any help there ? Thanks for the read.

Have you checked with your nearest dealer's service manager? My dealer will loan special tools if they don't need them at the moment. It would not hurt to ask, especially if you have a good relationship with them. Even if you have to rent one, it's cheaper than buying one. If you take it back the next morning with a box of donuts, you may ensure you get tool help in the future too.:)

I've never seen the innards of a tc 35.. but on some oldies, we use the input shaft as an align tool.. .. gives you a chance to look at the seal too!

Has NH stopped using the age tested cotter-jiggle pin and hole?

soundguy

Had a problem with some of those age tractors with the cotter-jiggle pin put in from the bottom---head sticking down out of bell housing instead of the blades----the blades cover the hole and the head would not cause the cotter pin to spin---causing the hole to stop up and hold moisture----also found a few of the cotter pins put in real tight---too tight to turn--- you may have a incorrectly installed cotter-jiggle pin -----the old 1715's were the worse for this problem----larger hole and larger cotter pin solved the problem per Ford Service reps-------if you housing does not have a cotter-jiggle pin under the bottom of the bell housing at the low point of the dry clutch housing i would check with the NH service rep and see if it is suppose to have one and someone forgot to drill the hole----I know this is a late reply but on a few of the stuck clutches we were able to chain the tractor to a pole with the front end off the ground ---removed the starter-----and lightly heated the fly wheel a few times with a torch----when it cooled down your would hear a bang and the front end would drop to the ground----then we would drive the tractor and burn down the rusty clutch----worked most of the time----

I have one i bought from SuperCheap for $17 . It has an Aluminium sliding tapered sleeve that goes into the spline and it has about 5 screw on tips on the end of the shaft so it will fit many spiggot bearing sizes . So far it has fitted every car ive done , i'm sure it would fit your tractor . Check out ebay or give them a Google .

If it does not have the drain hole with the cotter pin maybe it is a New Holland defect. Would they stand behind it?

Hey Newhollandharley,

We'll need some photos, I've been following your adventure, you've got me a little worried about our T2220. I've been putting a block of wood under the clutch pedal, and the wife always asks if I did it.

I hope this all comes out ok, it will be interesting to see what you find in there.

OK fellas, here it is. I was successful. Broke it, fixed it and put it back together. It was not as bad as I thought it might be. There is a cotter key but the hole was way to small, just a bit of debris and it clogged. While taking out the bolts to the bell housing about a gallon of water came out. I went ahead and took my chances with a hole in the housing. I beat the dickens out of the flywheel with an impact hammer and got no where so I put a hole in the housing and tried for a couple of hours that way with no results so I had to split it to get it free. It is a double sided clutch and both sides were solidly rusted to the flywheel and spring plate so I never would have been able to get it loose without breaking it. I built some wheels on a dolly to make it easier on me, I'm by myself out here and if it had fallen on me that would have been that. Thanks again for the tip about blocking the king pin on the front axel. That was a good one. I just cleaned it all up, took the opportunity to grease the shifter linkage and put it all back together, no new parts because the clutch was hardly worn and the throw out bearing was fine too. All in all a good evolution. I learned a lot about my tractor too. I appreciate all the good advice and help, thank you all, a bunch! This will be the last entry to this thread unless you have any questions, the pictures should be easy to follow and understand. Again gentlemen ... thank you. The pictures are under 'Members Photos' New Holland Newhollandharley ... my personal email address is listed too and is as follows

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed. I realy like you adjustable front end dolly. That idea had to make it easier to line every thing up when putting it back together. I will have to remember this if I ever have to split my tractor. Job well done!.
