TC40 vs TC45

So does this "full throttled tractor" come with SuperSteer? I think this tractor does definitely have some of the coolest looks in the compacts. So it won't be long and you'll have the place torn up like me, thats great, congratulations. Rat...

JimI, I tend to agree with you. In the past I have usually done just as Bird suggests. I guess it's because more and more people are finding this site, it's becoming anoying. Not long ago a post appeared by Joy Susan asking about a well. I nicely suggested that it might help to know where the well was located. As of this writing, no response back from Joy Susan. The well in question could be in Siberia, or Tierra del fuego, or any place in-between.
What is it about registering that is so difficult? It's not like you have to put your whole life history down. A little about what you do, or will do with a tractor. Your terrain. I just don't understand it.

I can't vote either way, JimI, for the same reason I didn't respond initially to the question; I don't know enough about the two tractors./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And Fullthrottle, welcome to the forum, glad to have you.

Okay, you have my sincere apologies. I can certainly "dish it out," but I also want you to know that I can take it too. I admit being overly reactive just hoping to stimulate your response. It doesn't matter; I judged you wrong and I admit it. Now, welcome aboard, Fullthrottle. It's nice to know that you are not "helpless" as I wrongfully assessed you. And since no one responded to my poll, I guess I owe everyone a bucket full of "I told you so" to be poured over my head. ...just don't ask me to not be happy to know a little more about you. Okay?/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

I'm guessing that you bought the non-hydro TC45. That's the one that is 200 lb heavier than the TC40. The D-models have less than 100 lb difference. I don't think you will ever be sorry you went for the most hp you could get. I wanted 50 hp, but I guess I'll have to wait until NH beefs up the line a little more. The hydro tranny scrubs off over 5 hp to the PTO. But then, going over 40 hp at the PTO means heavier gearboxes on rotary cutters, etc../w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I think you will be happy with your purchase.

Ernie, I know the feeling, but in this case, I was wrong. I normally try to keep my "trap" shut if I can't be positive, but this time I overreacted. In all honesty, it probably won't be the last time./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Fullthrottle,

Welcome to TBN! Glad to see you made your purchase and that you were able to get the price difference down to $1000.

Did you get Supersteer? FEL? Any extra toys?

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I've really gained a great deal of info from following your post the past several weeks.
I didn't get Supersteer or HST. I 'm planning on keeping the tractor for a long period and was concerned about the long term durability of those options.(Just a personal concern. No facts or horror stories to base that on). I'm planning on purchasing a FEL early 2002. 16LA looks slick, but I've always heard Woods makes the best loaders. Any opinions? I also ordered a Woods RD72 Finishing Mower. Still trying to decide on which Bushog, Post hole digger and Boxscrape to get. I'll let everyone know when it arrives and any bad or good experience's with quality and performance.

Fullthrottle,

I would go with the NH loader for a couple reasons.

One-it is engineered to match the tractor capabilities. Some aftermarket loaders (don't know about Woods) can be under powered or over powered for the weight balance of the tractor. Under powered you get frustrated and if overpowered you can damage the tractor (and sometimes the operator).
Two-It matches the swept look of the hood and has great bucket visibility.
My third reason may not apply as it appears you are getting the gear unit (vs the HST). The NH loader joystick has the turtle/rabbit HST range switch on the loader joystick.

The NH loader (have a 17LA) is a very well made unit that has taken quite a bit of heavy use. The biggest drawback is the lack of a quick attach bucket. For me its not an issue as I don't have any other loader attachments and don't plan on getting any.

Howdy!

You might want to look at the Great Bend loaders. They are nicely made, with good specs, but not much of a price savings [the 240 was only $250 less than the NH 7308].

Interestingly, I went into things looking at a Great Bend 240 for my NH TC29D. The lift/breakout specs were much better. However, my dealer pointed out that the NH 7308 FEL matched the Great Bend specs when it was hooked onto the NH 1900 series tractors. So, obviously, the loader is capable of increased weightloads. My dealer [great folks] can't figure out why NH rated the same loader on the Boomer tractors quite a bit lower. Apparently, they mount the same as the Great Bend units. Off. So, anyway, since NH has a much better "joystick," I opted for it and the nice color match!

One other point. NH now does have a Quick Attach setup on their buckets. I didn't get it as I couldn't see using my loader for much else [I went for the HD bucket instead], but I know it's available.

Best Regards,
Jay
