tc40d rock hound question

   / tc40d rock hound question #11
I have done lawn and seed prep. To do correctly, takes work and well, prep.

I just bought a TC40, delivery is Saturday. With the rock hound(do you mean Harley Rake?) on the front, you would still want ballast on the 3pt; that would make for a long tractor to manuever.

I have used 56HP Bobcat S185's. It'll lift similar to the TC40, maybe a little more. You should be able to lift the implement. However, a skidsteer typically has a lot of hydraulic flow, because they are designed for hydrualic implements. You would best be served with pto pump to run this thing so you have lots of flow.

Are you renting or do you own the skidsteer?

Robert, the Rockhound Rake is an implement that picks rocks out of the first 4" of soil. It's not really like a Harley rake. The larger Rockhounds actually sweep rocks into a bucket that can be transported and dumped. It's a cleaning implement more than a soil prep and levelling implement like the Harley Rake.

The OP said he was currently renting a skidsteer with the Rockhound attached, so he has experience and knows this is what he wants. He is just trying to decide if a TC40D can handle the Rockhound so he can buy the tractor and a Rockhound of his own and skip the hassle of renting each time he needs one. Of course, he could buy a skidsteer and a Rockhound, but that combination might be more than the tractor and also not as flexible.
