TC40D turn signal problem

Well, the configuration has definitely changed on the newer "DA" machines. Let me do a little research and I'll get back to you. I think it may be black square near the upper group of relays, since the lower group appears to be the same configuration as my tractor. NH may have a combined blinker/flash converter all in one assy now. Don't know for sure.

Hold the phone. . . .

Okay, I'm back.:)
The illustration for your tractor is attached thanks to Messicks.com . The flasher module is #16. It appears to be lower than your picture showed. It's also (hold your breath) $151 and change. The flasher relay is #3 in the relay illustration. This is the kind of thing you definitely want to know is bad before you go replacing it.

Jinman, Thanks for following up on this. $151 is a liitle steep and I definately want to be sure the flasher module is the problem before I buy one. Is there a proceedure to troubleshoot the module? Sig

I'm sure there is, but my Maintenance Manual is for the old-style NASO module. I think they have now included the flasher inside the module and that makes things much more complex. Without specific info or a schematic, I'd be afraid to offer you adivice.

In the old days of blinker flashers on cars, I've "adjusted" a few by pulling them and smacking them against something hard to break the contacts loose. I'm pretty sure that would be bad advice here.;)

Thanks Jinman, I'll make a few calls and see if I can find the proceedure to troubleshoot the flasher module.
I read the recent posts about another owner with transmission shaft problems, it makes me cringe when I think about a $8,000 bill because New Holland won't sell just the shaft. Wow! Are these rare and isolated problems and we only hear about them because people are looking for solutions in the users group or is the problem more widespread? I would hate to hold on to this hydro and later wish I'd traded it for a gear tranny.

Did you get an Operator's Manual with your tractor? If so, it has an electric schematic in the back of the book. That schematic will tell you what pins on the module get power, have input from the blinker switch, and have output to your lights. With that info and a VOM, you should be able to isolate the problem. The test procedure in my Maintenance Manual calls for removing the module and flasher and hook them together on a bench with a test light and a 12 volt battery. You essentially rebuild the circuit on the bench. I don't know why you could not do all that with using the circuit and components on your tractor. After all, what is better than troubleshooting in the actual circuit where the flasher has to normally work?

Understand that I am in complete sympathy with those two fellows who cannot easily buy repair components for their HSTs. However, they sure seem to be the rare exception to what is a normally reliable transmission. I have 1525 hours on my tractor and the transmission works as well as the day I bought it. It's the tractor I wanted, the tractor I got, and the tractor I still love to operate. Personally, I have no regrets for purchasing the HST. I understand your "jitters" about the transmission, but I cannot help but believe that a few years down the line you will feel exactly like I do today.:)

Jinman, Again thanks for the troubleshooting advice and the support for the HST. I was originally pricing new 40HP Boomers w/FEL and the price after tax was more than I wanted to spend at this time. My Son saw this tractor on Craigslist for $10K less with 250 hrs on it, with FEL, mower and forks. I had to go for it although I would have prefered the gear tranny because I plan on pulling a two bottom plow fairly often. I heard from a dealer the gear tranny would be better for plowing because of the relief valve lifting under heavy loads with the HST. Whether this will actually happen in my case is yet to be seen. I love the way it operates and the hydraulics are great. My wife mowed some pasture last weekend and was impressed how easy it was to use. These input shaft stories are a little unsettling givin CNH doesn't seem to want to meet the needs of the consumer.
