Thanks Jinman. Having the gauge cluster cleaned and with fresh color really makes the dash look nice. Now I'm looking for other little touchups I can do but at the same time having to remind myself this is a workhorse and not for show.
Yeah, I wasn't too happy that I broke them. It happened while I was carefully trying to apply a bit of reducer while prepping them for paint. I should have started with a q-tip but tried it with a paper towel and "oops"!
On another note, it's amazing how much dust gathers under the dash panel around the fuses and relay box. It's too bad the design doesn't allow for the air being blown across the motor backwards get directed elsewhere. I had that entire area apart and cleaned last fall while hooking up fused power for some work lights. In the process I had removed the two "chaps" or covers that bolt together under the steering column. I risked not unhooking the key switch and unknowingly one of my pins broke off in the 4-flat plug. It happened to be the pin that powered my starter relay so the whole time I was still getting power in the "run" position, got it all buttoned up ready to go play and nothing. I had no idea what I had done and got pretty intimate with the wiring schematic to find out what had happened. Wasn't an easy find, I had to hunt for that one.
