Decided to drop the engine oil and change oil filter. All went well until I put the sump oil plug back in. Previous owner had stripped the plug
Called around many places and unfortunately getting a tap which was 1" is just to cost prohibitive. Currently solution is Permatex ultra black on the inside of sump and on the bolt. I'll find out tomorrow if that doesn't work....
Anyone else have any ideas? Would love to hear how people get around this!!
Sprayed the upper half and starting to put it all back together.
Also removed rear wheel so I can fix a puncture. Surprisingly the brake shoes still have life left in them. There is a slight leak though so once I move onto the rear I'll address that.
Update from this weekend.
I haven't been able.to do as.Much as I like due to change of jobs however I did spend a few hours on the following this weekend;
- the pto arms were stuck up and when turning on the tractor would remain up. Pulled the side covers and found the control valve had separated from the forks. Problem was I couldnt pull out the control valve by hand so I had to drop the pump.
Couldn't believe how Much debris and mineral deposits were in the bottom of the casing. Cleaned it up and relubed the control valve. Feels perfect with some resistance.
- had a leaking pto shaft so in the process of replacing the seal
- the tire shop had no luck with changing the tube on rear wheel. Have to get the bead hydraulically broken as the tire is fused to the rim.
It's been a little while bit here's the latest update
- got the gaskets I need the hydraulic pump housing so I put everything back together also with a new seal for the pto. That's done the trick with no leaking and also I have fixed the issue with the arms stuck up
- got the levelling arm freed up and lubricated
- changed the rubber boots on the steering arms
- new heavy duty tube in the tyre
Next will now be a complete clean, sand, prime and paint of the remaining body
