telescoping lower links stink!

I really dont like them! Not only do they cause a hardware conflict (pins mashing) with my landpride quick hitch,they just dont seem to work well. Perhaps its just me because im a knucklehead, wouldnt be the first time.

What's not to like? I learned to hook up 3PTH implements on old Fords when I was a kid so the lower links on my B3030 are just too easy. I think that cab has spoiled you and made you soft in your old age. (just kidding) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Is the trick to just slide them back a half inch or so, then back up ? I seem to get one locked back in, the other locked out, and several times had to fully disconnect & rehitch without using them. Its frustrating!

Yes, the trick is to not pull them out all the way. If the weight of the arms themselves are pushing down on the ends when they are all the way out they do not like to go back in. I try to mount an implement by first adjusting the width of the lower links with the adjustable swaybars so that they are wider than the pins on the implement. I then back up as squarely as I can to the implement and, using the postion control lever, get one arm close to one of the pins on the implement. Use the telescoping feature to connect the closest pin. Then do the other side. If you can get close enough so that you don't have to fully extend the arms it makes it a lot easier. The telescoping feature helps with that last inch or so. Then just back up or wiggle the implement until the arms are locked in. Not as easy as a quick hitch, but not to difficult either. My ford 5000 has telescoping links.. my NH 7610s doesn't. Wanna bet which one is an easier hookup when i hitch the 2500# 3pt 10' mower...

I used the T L L without incident today to hitch up my aerator. I was pulling them all the way out, the trick is to get within an inch or so of target!

Sometimes it helps to use a pry bar on the implement as well to help in the alignment.
