Temp gauge not working

I have a Farmtrac 270DTC. This winter I needed to remove the snow pack on my driveway. When I did that I noticed the temp gauge didn't move. Using the tractor this spring and still no temp gauge. How do I start testing if it is a sensor or the gauge that is bad?

Ground the wire at the sensor and the gauge should read hot or cold (depending on how it's designed). That will tell you if the sensor is bad.
