Anybody ever look at http://terraserver.microsoft.com to see an aerial photograph of your property?

I first learned about the site a couple of years ago, but my immediate area wasn't mapped at that time. And I just learned from a friend today that mine is on there now. The odd thing is that the photo was taken on "08 Mar 1995" and wasn't digitized until 03 Jun 1999.

Anyway, if you've never seen it, you might find it interesting to see such a photo of your own property./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, well last I checked there was a map about a mile from my house... and it is really hard to get your exact location even from the street - just trees and stuff here in NY. I'll check it tomorrow again.

I went to mapquest.com and found my address. Then took the lat and long and put it into the terra server with the topo map. Zoomed and could easily see my place, then switched to the photo map and zoomed to 1 meter. Can see my place about 1 inch x 3 in for 10 acres. Easy to see Tank, garden, barn, house, every single tree AND each and every septic line!!! Must be an IR photo taken from a satellite. Excellent resolution. Roads are very distinctive.

That is really neat. Now all the appraiser has to do is put the cursor on you and send you your tax bill! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

There are two map sites. Mapquest doesn't give it to you directly, but I believe it is shown in the margins of the map, but http://www.mapblast.com gives lat and long directly. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
