Friday , one of the newer members here is coming over to look over my machine and give it a drive . I want to be as helpful to him as I can . I'm not trying to sell him a brand of machine , as that's his choice . I'd just like him to get an idea of what a tractor can,and can't do . He very much needs(and wants ) a tractor . And for my part , I'm pleased to let him experience the use of a tractor . So, if it were YOU, what would you point out ,stress . I know safety is a must .
But that as a given , what else?? John

Make sure you point out the "goodies" you have on yours.....remotes and a block heater /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Inspector !
That's been covered on the phone /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif He is looking hard at tractors ,and seriously considering Kioti, Kubota, and Mahindra . He's not excluding other choices , but these are the closest dealers to him . But I'm sure questions like implements etc will come up . And I'd like to have a cogent answer . Not that any of my previous post give any suggestion that it's possible /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

Questions will likely come flowing quickly after a few minutes of seat time... Talk about things you like about it, and things you would do different or change about your machine.

It's good to brush up on your studies just before a test /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, but lets remember, you will be talking about something you are passionate about....TRACTORS and I think you will have no troubles settling into a meaningful conversation without the need to prep! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Heck before it's all over, you'll have explained everything down to what tire pressure you run for different tasks /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif well at least that is what I would do /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Really though I'm sure you are just like me and probably everyone else, if there is one thing that I love to talk about it is tractor stuff (and I am still a newbie in my mind which is why I am always reading here).

Last of all, I think it is great that you are taking the time out of your schedule to help a fellow member with a very important decision. That is the kind of gestures that makes this country grand, and also more the exception than rule these days. Kudos to you.

You have it all wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Point out that it REDUCES stress... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

OK, John, heres a few ideas

Try to remember before you really used a machine; what are the things that you take for granted that weren't so obvious then:

FEL float for Johnny on the spot grading.

Quick attach loader and buckets.

HST or reverser for loader work. Reversers that don't require clutching.

Ergonomics, why this control in this spot is so handy...

Don't forget to tell him to try and get all the plumbing done up front, if at all possible, at least on Deere's it is significantly cheaper, and often cleaner installation.

I know you aren't trying to sell him your brand, but then again, don't be afraid to either. Your Kubota works well for you, and you seem to be happy with your dealer. Don;t fix what isn't broke. You might find out that another dealer that seemed OK wasn't in the same league as yours. A referral from you, a happy customer, might get your friend off on the right foot with your dealer and help you as well.

That said, I commend you for not making it out as "If you wanna tractor, you gotta buy what I bought..." Don't Oversell, but don't undersell, either...

Most people that see my tractor REALLY want a Yellow seat. It is a sad truth, but it seems that most of the brands don't offer that, even as an upgrade. You have to warn people about those things! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the posts guys ! I was just concerned that I might try to tip the perspective owner towards what I own . I just want to give him an idea of what tractors in the size range He's looking for are like . When it's all said and done , it'll be nice to put a face on a screen name . I even had ten tons of 3b limestone delivered so he can play with the loader . Not that my drive needs it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

John, if you could delay his visit a couple months, you might get him to cut your grass too! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hummm...you may have come up with something here...anyone want to see a B2910 or a BX??? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

And don't forget those pictures... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
