Test drive for a new owner

Why not talk about SAFETY. That is something nobody every talked to me about. And since I almost laid my Kubota on its side while working with the FEL, I wish someone had talked to me. I was lucky, I didn't filp it, and I did have my seat belt on. But it would have been nice to know that working on flat ground that there are still plenty of dangers out there in the tractor world.

Still can't do pics /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Maybe he has a dig. camera .
I offered to have him come up earlier this year , but things didn't work out . Would have been nice to get my drive plowed /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif seriously though I need to do the drive and I'm certain a person thats never been on a tractor wont do any worse than me ! Some of my learning efforts beg the question " When did the tornado hit your place ." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Actually I was in the process of spreading it . But, then thought that maybe it'd be useful for a new buyer to get a feel for what an fel can do . It's not like I'm going to show him how to drill a ROPS ! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bob ,
Sorry i gave the impression that safety would be skirted .
When I stated safety aside , I meant to imply it was to be an obvious topic . Sometimes I not write good /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

I think the BEST info would be a few pointers on how he can get it past SWMBO. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hmmmm...... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sounds to me like someone needs to go out and buy themselves a digital camera! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

See, we can spend someone's money on something OTHER than a tractor!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

In the short term, however, you could pick up one of those disposable digital cameras and use it. I can only speak from having used a Kodak, but it worked well. Our regular Kodak digital needs to be fixed (still! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif), so in the meantime, we used a disposable. I don't know how much it cost to buy, but the wife got the one with 27 pictures on it. Once it's filled up, you take it to a anyplace that handles the Kodak developing. In our case, it was a Walgreen's drugstore. For $9.41, you get all of the pictures put on a CD, plus one set of 3x5 prints. Then we just loaded the pictures off of the CD to our computer, and we're able to e-mail them or print them out. Worked well, although I'm sure that the pictures end being more expensive in the long run.

Since our camera is not fixed yet, we'll be using the disposables on our upcoming trip out west. Better than nothing at all! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's probably the toughest test of all !
I was actually blessed with an understanding wife . When I finally decided on the tractor (or so I thought ) , I took her to look at it (2910 ) . She looked at it and the 3130 next to it . Then she said "You know you'll be back for this in a couple of years for that .( the 3130) . So just get it now ". I did try to walk over to a 3430 then , but got the " LOOK " /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
In fact the guy I'm talking about had his wife express concerns about the size of some of the tractors he was looking at . If every thing goes well, I'm going to ask him to bring his wife up . I think it'd be neat to let his and my wife drive the machine ,and have kind of a girls day out .
Let's face it , There 's more than one vote as to buying a tractor . John

I don't think there is nothing wrong with telling him why you bought what you did! There is reasons why you bought what you bought and be darn proud of it.

I can see the sign in NEON now.....

"You drive em Tractors"

Heck this will probably turn into a school for learning how to use all your implements efficiently and effectively.

By the time this is in full swing, Cerberus will have his entire place being landscaped and manicured by his willing deciples /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Definitely has the Tom Sawyer feel to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I really like the way he thinks! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
