Test drove new 3.5l TT Ford

Can't wait to see the first unloaded mileage figures rolling in. I expect the average to be 18 MPG with the hypermilers getting 25+ and the leadfoots doing about 20.

I could really not care about towing 10K lbs. I would like to be able to do 6-7 nicely and then get the mileage up.

that's how I started.. only needing to tow 5k.. then needed 6-7k.. then needed more.. decided to make the jump to much higher instead of incrementing up trucks / trailers every so often.

I agree will like to see the real mileage numbers. The lie o meter said on the interstate it was getting over 22 @ 70 on a 20 mile trip.

One thing is compare the differant rebates purchase/cash purchase/0% or finance at 5.5% with ford. As we found the 5.5% was the cheapest way if you refinance or pay it off after 2 months.

I too, drove the 3.5 Twin Turbo Ford F150 XLT yesterday. Wow, that's an engine.

I wasn't towing anything so I can't comment on that part of the trucks performance but for pure acceleration I was impressed. There is no comparison to my 2004 F150 with the 5.4 and I haven't driven the Ford with the new 5.0 so I don't know how it compares to the engine.

I don't know what fuel mileage to expect with the supercrew cab and 4wd but it has to be better than my 5.4. Buying a new truck with gas prices at $3.54 probably seems a little crazy but if I can get 2-3 mpg improvement perhaps I just might be able to stay out of divorce court when I bring a new one home.
