I just bought one of these for my 2013 Chevy 3500. Main use is pulling 5th wheel. Preparing for retirement and a trip across the country. Pricey but I could not find anything close that looks good, light weight and gives me ability to carry tools, extra storage. It is all aluminum only adds 700 pounds to truck. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/files/trailers-transportation/391803-teuck-bed-flatbed-would-you-2015_chevy_3500hd_4x4_crew_cab_classy_hauler-brn_02_f-jpg"/>

That's a nice looking set up. Hope you have a fun road trip.

Re: Truck bed to flatbed, would you convert?

Here's the deal. Truck got damaged at a job site yesterday. The bed took most of the damage when a load of trusses slid into the truck. Bed is just about shot. Cost to repair close to a new bed. Would you take the insurance money and put on a flat bed. Always sorda wanted one but really have had no reason for one. Truck is a SRW F250, there are very few flatbeds that look good on SRW trucks but when the fit right they look good. Opinions?

Yes.
I have a flat on my current 1 ton truck, haven't looked back and don't expect to.
The OBVIOUS advantages; FULL width of the truck to carry things ON, not restricted to the 4 ft or so between wheel wells.
Can load/unload at either side, not just the back.
Closer to regular loading dock height than pick up beds, not the huge drop from tractor/trailer level to pick-up truck level.
NO chance of cracking the goose neck trailer on the top edge of the box bed.
Stake pockets and rub rails are about standard, I have had various side board configs, currently running without boards on it.

Of course, I am ASSUMING that you will use it more as a TRUCK than as a Saturday morning land fill hauler with a couple of plastic trash bags, or a few sheets of plywood.

OTOH, it is a near-end-of-life Ford, so may not be worth fixin' ;-)

200k on a 7.3 diesel is just gettin broke in... my wifes Excursion has 280k, as does my boss' F250. In my opinion, well worth fixin' up!
