I've run into problems getting something (anything) done that is different than what the contractor is used to doing, even when I'm willing to pay more for it. They seem to want to decide for me what I should have instead of doing what I want.

And I agree that priorities should be on necessities first (like utilities), then other infrastructure (like roads), then nice to have (like parks & art).

How many hundreds of millions of dollars have been allocated to The Kennedy Center even in the last two so-called incentive bills and yet necessary and critical infrastructures in the country need maintenance, improvement and updating? What happens to the money going to Kennedy Center and numerous other scams just like it. We know and normal people out here are tired of the nonsense and corruption.

Depends on who you ask - in the last COVID stimulus, none apparently:

Seems like the funding present in the last budget (not COVID relief) bill was in line with what was requested by those who proposed it ... :confused3:

That's not to say that they did not receive any federal funding whatsoever as part of prior COVID relief packages though:

Unbelievable! :confused2: They had a Texas guy on TV whose monthly bill was $16,000... 50X normal WOW! Obviously, a system like that is fundamentally flawed, in need of a complete revamp!

What needs a revamp? Our whole economic system?
Many would say: “$16,000 bill, hey they provided electricity when there was a short supply and customer demanded it. That’s capitalism bud! Supply and demand! Don’t like it, move to a commie country! Maybe you’d like to live in some third world country that has hungry people , freezing in the cold without heat, water or fuel....err...never-mind the news here,..I mean one of those OTHER countries. We’re #1!, we’re #1, we’re #1!
When other companies realize how much they can gouge consumers in a crisis, the market will respond and more companies will winterize their generators so they too can gouge customers. The invisible hand of our great free market. Why, it’s the answer for EVERY problem.
What do you want? Regulation of monopolies (like utilities) by the Gubmint? Why, why, THAT’S SOCIALISM!
It’s important to remember those people without shelter, water or fuel represent Freedom!

I actually agree with you; there are so many places in this country that need infrastructure that it seems silly to spend money somewhere else. I would add billion dollars stadiums to that list as well.

I still think groups of people and organizations just breed stupidity. Look at the Japanese, who in my opinion are nobody's fools. Fukashima, on the edge of the ocean with their back up generators down nice and low. EVERYTHING never would have happened if it weren't for THAT small detail! Funny. You never hear about that anymore. Done the news cycle, but I bet the environental damage is occuring today, as bad as or worse than in those first days.
