Like you, I am right on the NE edge of that big white blob that is DFW. That is why I bought some land 30 miles farther to the NE to retire to. 3 yrs and counting.

Me too, except I went 30 miles west of the metromess. It's also why I had the previous owner's Mercury vapor light turned off. My boys got a nice reflecting telescope for Christmas, and it is dark enough out here (compared to the metromess) to see a lot more stars with the naked eye.

The satellite photo is pretty cool. You can easily see the difference between Midland and Odessa, and every other city along I-20.

Reminds me of the song "Simple Life", by Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. Got that CD for Christmas and it is quite good if you like modern (not strictly traditional) bluegrass.

I can just see where my county place is. It's kind of amazing that you can pinpoint all those little towns based on the lights.

As another escapee from the metroplex .... I can't think of anything that would make me want to return.
