Pacerron; You are much too kind! THANK YOU!

Here is another shot of better weather than this stuff! I was getting ready to do my rain dance, last month. And before y'all make comments about my 1050's front wheels needing painting, yes, they do need it. It is on the "To do" list! I got tired of fixing flats, due to mesquite thorns, so this last Spring, I put 26 ply aircraft tires on the front of the rig. I laugh at the mesquites as I mow them down! I miss summer!

FG,
Better get some JD Green when your painting also. That canopy needs some. While up on the canopy, add some flood lights to mow longer.;) Does your JD have a plow light?:confused3: If not, add at least one light on the back side. Then you can mow at night naked:dance1: and all folks will see is the glare from your flood lights!
hugs, Brandi:eek:

Is that your mowing costume in 100 degree heat?

I wear shorts and a T shirt most of the time in the summer on the tractor and get stung
in embarrassing places. When I complain, my wife says " you know real farmers/ranchers wear long sleeve shirts, bibs, and boots"
Meanwhile, she's running around in shorts and a halter top to keep cool.

Yes, I've been known to mow like that. One neighbor will complain, but he sits there with binoculars to see it, then complains.

Your nighttime lows are lower than our, but daytime highs are similar, this weekend! I am just happy temps are a degree above freezing right now, so the ice can melt. I am hoping it dries some too, before nightfall.

I have the battery charger, but can't say that I have seen the block heater here!

bindian; I have headlights that I could mow by, but with some of the rock outcroppings here, I don't want to have very advantage to see them, BEFORE I try to go over them. There are also some Prickly Pear in the pastures. Hit one of those, and one becomes 100! I prefer to miss them, so there is less to treat the next year. Less to treat= less work for me, and less chemicals, if I end up having to go that route later. I try to grub them out, but I am one person!

I like the idea of all that the surrounding folks would see is the glare of the lights though!

When I got to Alaska, I couldn't figure out why a 110 volt plug was hanging out of the grills of cars. Then I went to the grocery store and saw the cars either idling or plugged in to the stores elecricity...powering their block heaters. Signs on the store door's read.....................Don't even think about coming in this store with your face covered!

I plug my truck in when the temperature gets below 50,, I thinking I may have some air leaks around the injectors.. new O rings more than likely.. but it like me once it warms up it will run all day.. Lou

bindian; I use the block heater on my pickup sometimes, just have never seen one in use on a tractor around here. If I will be away from home base for the entire day, I leave the truck idling too. I think it is better for the diesel to maintain temp that way. Others may disagree. My truck is kept in a garage at night, so block heater isn't needed until temps really drop. I try to have all tractor chores finished before this sort of weather comes in! Open cab will freeze your tush off, if you are in it too long! So, a battery charger is all one *should* need here, for the tractor.

I got bundled up and got the tractor idling and put all the tools and supplies I needed into the bucket. I had on a hooded zipper sweater and a wore out SWA jacket over that. I went out and came back in to put on pantyhose and my fur lined cap to match my orange mittens. I had on rubber boots and thick boot socks over the hose. I tried to take a picture of me looking like a snow bunny, but the camera's battery indiacator was blinking at me. So it is charging now.

By the time I augered one hole.......it was drizzling. I trimmed the cedar post.........threw it in the hole...........jumped on the now wet tractor and proceeded to push the post down another foot. Quickly, I spread concrete in the hole and added water, tamping as I went. I threw all the tools back into the bucket and hauled for the barn. By the time I got to the barn..........it was pouring. I was hot by then...........and wet. Temps when I started were 45. When I finished it was 47. No wonder I was hot............we got a warm spell with the rain.

I had let Booger go from his infirmo confinement when I started. He sat on the dam the whole time I was getting wet, along with my concrete. Going back to the barn, I increased speed and made the last turn and heard Booger yelp. The auger must have swung out in the turn and bumped him. He was alright, so I caught him in the barn and reconfined him to his infirmo ward.

Oh yeah..........FG:), you are so right about the dog food with more protein...spelled $$$$. Booger is looking 10 years younger and beefed up:laughing:, but looking trim. Thanks!!!:):dance1::cool2::) His bite wound abscess now only has a small opening that foams with peroxide applied.
hugs, Brandi

My parents and both brothers lived a number of years in Anchorage. My parents bought a little house with no garage; just parked in the drive beside the house, and plugged in the power cord. In the kitchen a regular wall switch turned the power on and off to that outside power cord. So they had it turned off, and plugged it in when they came in, in the evening, then when they first got up in the morning and went into the kitchen to start the coffee pot, they'd also flip that switch on. They said their Olds always started easily by the time breakfast was over and it was time to go to work. And one of my brothers lived in an apartment and each assigned parking space had the same kind of arrangement.

And southern US visitors forget to unplug the heater cord before pulling away from the store:D

With chili, I always want cornbread, Lou! Of course, I always want cornbread when I make pinto beans too! Crackers with soup, cornbread for EVERYTHING else! How can you go wrong with cornbread? :confused3:

I like a few crackers with my salad. However, cornbread is my no.1 choice for soups, chili, beans, and crumbled in fresh milk.:licking:

Yep, crackers (we keep 3 kinds on hand;saltines, club crackers, & ritz crackers) are for salads, cheese, Vienna sausage, and sardines. Cornbread is for everything else, including the pot of soup I'll make tomorrow.

Dang it's cold. Just spent the last 8 hours repairing fence line. Wild night last night. Had a sheriff's deputy pull intothe driveway, then back out screeching tires at midnight. We did not know it was a deputy or what was going on at the time. Two hours later, we awake to a spotlight shining in our bedroom window. It's the deputy. They pulled over avehicle down the road from us. They ran the plates and they did not match the vehicle. Chase ensued. The truck left the road and went through the neighbor's fence, through his pasture, through our fence, then another 2 sets of fences dividing our pastures, then the fence with out neighbor on the other side (cutting through our backyard), then back out two more fence lines to the highway.

High speed chase, crash and two life flights later-they were retracing the truck's path looking for bodies. Yikes. The official advice from the deputy-don't let anyone in your house, call us immediately, and if you have "anything" for personal protection, you might want to keep it handy and carry it with you if you go outside. Double Yikes.

Was it illegal's getting unloaded? Or just criminals looking to thieve? Times like this make me wish I had a few more motion activated lights on my home.

I think the politically correct term is undocumented visitors. But they were also car thieves. They had removed the license plate from the truck they had "borrowed without permission", and the police found 9 license plates inside the truck, including the plate for the vehicle they were operating at the time of this episode of police harassment. The deputy told us they like Dodge Rams, and take a lot of them down south of the border. So I guess they were importer/exporters?

I always switch to my 'Front Tamps' license plates when I go toward the border.:D
