Is that your mowing costume in 100 degree heat?

I wear shorts and a T shirt most of the time in the summer on the tractor and get stung
in embarrassing places. When I complain, my wife says " you know real farmers/ranchers wear long sleeve shirts, bibs, and boots"
Meanwhile, she's running around in shorts and a halter top to keep cool.

Your nighttime lows are lower than our, but daytime highs are similar, this weekend! I am just happy temps are a degree above freezing right now, so the ice can melt. I am hoping it dries some too, before nightfall.

I have the battery charger, but can't say that I have seen the block heater here!

When I got to Alaska, I couldn't figure out why a 110 volt plug was hanging out of the grills of cars. Then I went to the grocery store and saw the cars either idling or plugged in to the stores elecricity...powering their block heaters. Signs on the store door's read.....................Don't even think about coming in this store with your face covered!

I plug my truck in when the temperature gets below 50,, I thinking I may have some air leaks around the injectors.. new O rings more than likely.. but it like me once it warms up it will run all day.:laughing:. Lou

bindian; I use the block heater on my pickup sometimes, just have never seen one in use on a tractor around here. If I will be away from home base for the entire day, I leave the truck idling too. I think it is better for the diesel to maintain temp that way. Others may disagree. My truck is kept in a garage at night, so block heater isn't needed until temps really drop. I try to have all tractor chores finished before this sort of weather comes in! Open cab will freeze your tush off, if you are in it too long! So, a battery charger is all one *should* need here, for the tractor.

I got bundled up and got the tractor idling and put all the tools and supplies I needed into the bucket. I had on a hooded zipper sweater and a wore out SWA jacket over that. I went out and came back in to put on pantyhose and my fur lined cap to match my orange mittens. I had on rubber boots and thick boot socks over the hose. I tried to take a picture of me looking like a snow bunny, but the camera's battery indiacator was blinking at me. So it is charging now.

By the time I augered one hole.......it was drizzling. I trimmed the cedar post.........threw it in the hole...........jumped on the now wet tractor and proceeded to push the post down another foot. Quickly, I spread concrete in the hole and added water, tamping as I went. I threw all the tools back into the bucket and hauled for the barn. By the time I got to the barn..........it was pouring. I was hot by then...........and wet. Temps when I started were 45. When I finished it was 47. No wonder I was hot............we got a warm spell with the rain.

I had let Booger go from his infirmo confinement when I started. He sat on the dam the whole time I was getting wet, along with my concrete. Going back to the barn, I increased speed and made the last turn and heard Booger yelp. The auger must have swung out in the turn and bumped him. He was alright, so I caught him in the barn and reconfined him to his infirmo ward.

Oh yeah..........FG, you are so right about the dog food with more protein...spelled $$$$. Booger is looking 10 years younger and beefed up:laughing:, but looking trim. Thanks!!!:dance1::cool2: His bite wound abscess now only has a small opening that foams with peroxide applied.:thumbsup:

Well I just checked my home made Chili.. I may have added a tad to much cayenne pepper.. only three more hours of cooking will tell.. More cornbread there?.. :laughing:,, some people likes cracker and other cornbread.. I am a cornbread person,, cracker will do but I like cornbread with my chili.. :thumbsup: and beer,, lite,, what do ya'll like,, Lou

My parents and both brothers lived a number of years in Anchorage. My parents bought a little house with no garage; just parked in the drive beside the house, and plugged in the power cord. In the kitchen a regular wall switch turned the power on and off to that outside power cord. So they had it turned off, and plugged it in when they came in, in the evening, then when they first got up in the morning and went into the kitchen to start the coffee pot, they'd also flip that switch on. They said their Olds always started easily by the time breakfast was over and it was time to go to work. And one of my brothers lived in an apartment and each assigned parking space had the same kind of arrangement.
