commercials?? next thing you will be trying to get me to get her a TV box.. Lou

On NO LOU I would do that to ya!!

I was listening to the radio on the way to work Thursday, they we're reading some new "statistics". They said woman are spending more time in front of the tube now, than any other time in history, average 6 more hours a week!! Said it is cutting into their "domestic" work.
I have mixed emotions on this one, woman usually seem to bear the biggest amount of "housework" anyhoo.

Hey Jim, My wife asked if they have given you, "Magic Mouthwash", she said it's commonly given to Chemo patients to help with the mouth problems?

Glad to see you're long post, I will read the last half tonight !! At least you're in good spirits and probably need a couple 10 "fat pills"

Didn't know that about the brisket from the co-op either, I guess since I got on them for "tree damage" for 5k, they dont have me on the Christmas list!!

As I said, I'm a virgin when it comes to canned chili, never had such a thing before. Tried beef ravioli in a can once. The dog got most of it.
My wife is warming up the rest of the chili I made the first of the week, right now. 3rd lunch and it is gone.

FG. you can wear clothes sitting outside listening to the rain or dancing in it, this time of year.
I sat out up here in shorts and T-shirt drinking coffee after doing the treadmill to cool off this morning.
Won't be many days like this for a while.

All fine and good, if ya don't mind wearing clothes. I have the fireplace going nicely, and it is 70* in here! That means shorts and a tank top can be worn in the house, and for a brief run to the garage to grab extra wood, when needed. Shouldn't need it, as the wood sack on the hearth is full, and I'll just bring more in when I am coming back to the house from horse chores, this evening, since I'll be clothed then. Bad enough wearing leotards for my own workouts here. You know what they say, No Pain, No Gain!

I miss summer!

Dennis, my wife has graciously made me two bottles of "magic mouthwash" so I will have one in both the upstairs and downstairs bathroom. Unfortunately, even though I use it to brush my dentures and rinse my mouth, it can only do so much. Everybody knows you have to have some BBQ sauce (vinegar) on the side with sliced brisket. Then there's cole slaw (vinegar) and potato salad (vinegar) and some good sweet cherry peppers (vinegar) and a nice cold Shiner on the side (alcohol). Those goodies all combine to take the "magic" right out of that mouthwash. I just sit on the couch with my mouth burning and big grin on my face. BTW: Iced tea seems to be a great neutralizing agent.:D

My thought for today with a glass of Chivas Regal and some ice water to chase,,
I remember when I was young and begin caught doing dumb things,, I would be sends to bed without supper,,
I can also remember of going to bed hungry because we were poor and the portion were small..
Now my Thought Is:.. If you're dumb and poor, more than likely, you didn't have a weight problem.. I could be wrong.. Lou

Two Bit;

May be best "canned" chile in the world. Homemade chile is much better!

I agree. I've tried just about every brand of canned chili I could find. I do think Wolf Brand might be the best of the "canned" chilis but still hardly good enough to be worth buying.

I completely understand everyone has their own homemade chili that they think is the best in the world. :D

I'm sure it is. :confused3:

BUT, it aint available 24/7 whenever I want it. :thumb down:

But a can of Wolf Brand is.

And it's always the same. Consistently good! :licking:

So, I'm always willing to try a little of (almost :yuck:) anybody's homemade chili. :drink: Which I am sure most are truly delicious. :applause:

But, Wolf Brand will always remain my :number1:

You know Jim I never watched that show.. but I don't watch a lot of television.. since we don't have one.. I am joking,, not about the show,, I just don't watch television.. I listen to the radio,, read the paper and keep in the loop on the neighborhood gossip,, that where you get the real stuff.. This is going to be a fun afternoon.. Lou

Lou, I've watched three episodes and they were all painful. I have a granddaughter who loves the show. I love their story, but hate the show. Everybody here knows that you are only allowed to be that obsessive about tractors.;) I walked through Walmart yesterday and had that clan staring at me from greeting cards, to towels, and throw pillows. I haven't seen that much themed merchandise since the Star Wars craze when Chewbaccas and Yodas were everywhere.:D

Rechecked my rain gage a few minutes ago since this seems to be the end of the storm. We are at 2-1/4" since yesterday afternoon. My close ponds are up a foot to 18". This is one of the bigger rainfall events of 2013.

It appears that the rain is over and I just dumped about 1.7" out of my gauge.

And I've never seen Duck Dynasty; don't figure I've missed anything, but maybe I'm wrong.

TxDon: Don, if you see this post, is this the rain gage you have? If I get a Amazon gift card for Christmas, I just might let my gift-card Santa bring me one of these.

Jim, that is the one I have and it's worth every penny!

I just dumped out 2.17 WOOOT Water running in the "dry" creek, so bet we all got some needed run-off

All this talk about Chili has my mouth watering, but here's something you may want to try:

At my Dad's restaurant we use to serve tons of Enchilada Plates-- Cheese & onion Enchiladas with just a classic Texas chili. Kind of a "Truck stop" Plate. Over the years I started serving a 2-3 Cheese Enchiladas instead of a Baked potato with a Steak of your choice. It is a real winner.

Also I use to have a Chili and Cheese omelet on the menu that seem to be a real winner for the customers that were out to late the night before.

Then we also had the "Cowboy Chicken Fried Steak"---Classic CFS topped with Chili, Cheese & Onions. I know, I know, I'm kind of a classic CFS guy who needs some really good country gravy on my CFS, but give this a try, it is unbelieveable.

Now I'm going to go out to the freezer and pull out a quart of chili to thaw for some meal before Christmas.

Bird--Give it a look, it's different. They actually make some Texas Rednecks look good sometimes.

Jim,
It's okay to obsessive with ducks too.

.2" of rain in the guage. No Robertson sightings. Electricty hooked up to the barn. Overall, a good day.

1/2" overall and the sun came out after the front came thru. Looks to be a nice evening on the patio with a fire in the fire pit. Rick

I guess you can not see West Monroe La. from your back door?

We got 1/4 inch this morning and 1/2 inch this afternoon.
