Well, you Bah! Humbuggers can say what you want, but I do enjoy Christmas. I never got to have but one or two Christmases with my kids when they were very young ( 2 and 3) because my ex-wife took off with a high-level flim-flam artist who duped her, a bank, and a car dealership out of a brand new Caddy. That was two days before Christmas, and the presents I had were never delivered. It took me, the FBI, and lots of other folks to finally locate them after about 3 years. Even when they were finally located, I was in the US Navy on the East Coast and they were hiding in Sausalito, Ca. It wasn't until the courts got through with them and they came back to Texas that I was able to finally finalize my divorce and get some visitation privileges.

So I cherish every Christmas. I love being with my grandkids and watching them opening presents. Every Christmas is a blessing I cannot express. My heart has healed and now I feel all the love I missed and longed for during that very sad and dark part of my life. Christmas for me is a celebration of life, love, and family. I hope all of you feel just a little of the joy I experience being able to give and see the joy on children's faces. I suspect you are all really joking a bit about the Bah Humbug attitude, anyhow. Bless you all this Christmas Holiday season. May you feel the warmth and love of family and good friends.:)

Thanks for sharing Jim. I waited until VERY late in life to have children, so being the mature individual I am, I don't put up a bunch of lights and such because of crummy knees, but I do enjoy and film my young children every Christmas possible.

We have a two holer in the outhouse,, .:D. Lou

Lou, My grandparents had a brick house and a two holes in the outhouse. I never knew why there were two holes - but now I do - it's the equivalent of a two restrooms. But why did only one have a toilet seat and the other just the wood hole? Both my grandparent dipped maybe it was a just one restroom with a spittoon.

Do you have those larva like worms squriming in the bottom your outhouse also?

I can remember when hernia surgery meant a week in the hospital, but by the time I had one done (July 14, 1998), it was day surgery. It was interesting, to say the least. The anesthesiologist asked me if I wanted to be put plumb to sleep or just do a spinal block. I told him I didn't care, as long as it didn't hurt. So he did the spinal block and when the surgeon started cutting, I said something about what it looked like, and he, obviously shocked a bit, said, "You can't see what I'm doing can you?" I told him that big (stainless steel, I think) light fixture right over me was a very good mirror. So I got to watch and ask questions, and he explained as he went; quite interesting.

Of course the next time I saw him, I told him if I hadn't watched everything he did, I would have sworn he left a knife in there. It was a bit painful for a few days.

OHH!
They never told me that. Nope no lime bag - thats for sissies. I always figured that they just moved the toilet seat to the other side when that side got full. As far as standing - that was always done by the tree -cooler and less fragrant.

Lou,
You forgot to tell him that every so often the seat was moved to the other side to keep things balanced in the pit and sooner or later somebody
got to dig a new pit, move the privy over, and fill in the old pit. You couldn't just call the "turd hearse" back then, even if you had a phone that said
"number please" and the neighbors joined in the conversation.

A privy is where the modern phrase "start your download" originated.

I hear that about the knife left in there:laughing: I dont know how its going to go this time around, the doc's made me stay off work longer than first time but i have lots of sick time to cover it or my 5weeks of vacation,so that helps. I had bad headaches and spent some time in the ER after also. Did I mention I hate needles and they usually have to stick me 3 or 4 times or wiggle the dang thing:shocked:
Thanks for the prayers Brandi...

It's a good thing I had finished my morning coffee before reading this, or I might be having to clean it off of the laptop!

Foreman, my dad just had hernia surgery last week, said he is much pain. He is 73, so maybe it is harder on the "older guys" He had some good meds though, sounded half drunk over the phone and he's not a drinker:laughing:

Now I normally try to obey doctors' orders and pay attention to the directions and warnings on drug instruction sheets . . . however. . . I learned may years ago that Darvon and Scotch worked very well together for me. Your mileage may vary, so I don't recommend it for anyone else.

A woman living in a rural area wanted to have an outhouse that wouldn't stink. She advertised in the local papers for a contractor that could build such a structure.
After some time, a contractor applied for the job and guaranteed that the outhouse would not have any odor. He got the job.
Sometime after completing the construction, the man got a frantic call from the woman, "You'd better get here fast! That outhouse has a terrible smell!"

He rushed over, went to the outhouse, poked his head through the door and exclaimed,

"No wonder it stinks! You pooped in it!"
