Baked one of our "homegrown" smoked and cured hams that Fischers did for us ... Have had ham, mashed taters, all the fixings as well as ham sandwiches on homemade bread for the past couple days ... Last night Cheryl started the Northern Beans soaking and then this morning started brewing the ham soup .. Man what a wonderful fragrance coming from the kitchen !!!

I had a party to attend yesterday. My calories didn't come from the food, but from the PATRON!

For you "hot pepper" lovers, just read this and thought you'd find it interesting.

I'd have to try one, at least once! :licking:

I don't feel any need to try those peppers. To me, that's like trying to eat a spoonful of cinnamon powder or drinking contests. Even if you do it, you are gonna suffer big time. I think those peppers are an opportunity to set a good example for our children by showing that we have enough self-control to not be drawn into doing something we will regret. Of course, there are plenty of other things to use as an example for our kids too. As a matter of fact, I don't even want to watch somebody else attempt to eat a pepper. If nobody is watching, it kinda takes away the incentive.:)

I'd like to try them as well as the pickles .. I really like it hot ... I've seen friends break a sweat on hot stuff that just puts a smile on my face.

Now I want to try the pickles too! Thanks, TXDon! I love hot and spicy!

Native; Patron is so good, I don't mix it with anything. I poured 3-4 shots (no measuring, just pouring) into my glass and enjoyed it for an hour or so. It was still misting then, so decided I'd head home, rather than having a couple more shots. I was glad that I did, as the mist was freezing on my windshield. Sure was wishing I'd put a few shots of Patron in my glass to bring home and enjoy, once the truck was in the garage!

It was funny, the hostess saw me pour the Patron, and informed me she had another bottle in the cabinet, in case I wanted to enjoy all of the one that was out! No matter where I go, my reputation preceeds me!

Pacerron, I forwarded your stuffed jalapeño recipe to my soon to be son in law. He's a really good cook and made them Saturday when we visited. They're awesome.

Speaking of eating................
Charlie,
I made your Jack Daniels Pecan Chocolate Pie for Christmas. My son doesn't like it. So I get to eat all of it. It's good, but a little sweet with the JD and chocolate mix. Maybe I can take it and share it with my daughter this weekend. She had a piece, but did not comment on liking it. Next time I make one, it will be no chocolate, or half the called for chocolate.
hugs, Brandi

FG- Some of the well made Tequillas today are good enough to drink straight, like a good Scotch. They're about as expensive as a Single-Malt. A Doctor friend showed me the way he likes to drink Patron Anejo when he was down in Mexico. In a double rocks glass pour 1/3 glass of Patron then add equal equal amount of Tomato juice. Now pour and equal amount of fresh Lime Juice in another gas. Now a little salt on the back of your hand, take a sip of the Tequilla, then a sip of the Lime juice, then finish with a little salt on the tongue. He called it a "Sangrita" (a little blood). The problem is that this goes down way too easy.......therefore this should only be tried at HOME with someone else holding your Keys. I've cut way back on the Tequilla consumption....but that's another story.

Brandi-- Well I am happy you like it. We served some spicy food, so maybe that helped cut some of the sweetness. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas, and I hope you are feeling better. Have a Happy New Year.

Native; I do tequila shots, with just the salt and lime, with inferior tequilas. I'm not a fan of tomato juice, unless used in a recipe. Patron just goes down smoothly, all by itself! :licking:

Glad you liked them. Such a simple recipe but a great mix of flavors.
