hugs, Brandi

Been watching the rain and enjoying the cold weather here in Port A.

Talked to a friend in Fargo and it's in single digits up there but clear.

Thanks for the auction advise Brandi. I know there is 25% deposit to bid, a 3% credit card fee plus a 10% sellers fee, plus tax. I don't think I'll be able to run to Ft. Worth before the auction. That's where Charlie comes in.:D Looking back at past auctions with them the prices those grapple go for is from $400 to $1400. Yesterday none went below $800. On a TBN thread someone was saying they are like the WildKat grapples. The 66" single cylinder econo sells for $1650 - as compared and seen here: http://wildkatattachments.com/grapple.html

I really like the Anbo's grapple shape better. We will see?.

Don,
Here is palletforks.com lightweight 60 inch grapple. http://stores.palletforks.com/-strse-39/60"-LW-Root-Grapple/Detail.bok Just remember not to turn with these lightweights sticking into the dirt. The outside forks or tines can bend real easy hanging on a root in a turn. I would stay at or above 3/8 inch thick forks for a lightweight grapple. Mine is 1/2 inch forks with 5/8 inch thick on the outer most forks. Some manufacturers can make you one to your specs. Like with more forks to catch smaller brush. I almost had one made for me with 7 inch fork gaps. My fork gaps are about 9.5 inches.

Well had 3.75 in rain gauge but its been pouring down again out there. The wife drove my F150,4x4 in pasture beside house and barried it to the frame. The tractor was trying to sink and barely got it out.

Doesn't that get your goat. Almost sticking one vehicle to get another out. My Uncle's tractor wouldn't start when he got his pickup stuck, so he borrowed the neighbors truck and got it stuck. We then dove 10 miles to borrow another tractor to pull them all out.

I LOVE Red Steagal, and his gathering! Do you make it most years, Native?

I haven't made it in a few years. I always intend to but something seems to get in the way. The year that picture was taken a friend had a chuckwagon so we rode in the parade thru downtown and down in to the Stockyards. There were about 18 Chuckwagons and 100 or so outriders riding thru town at high noon. It was a blast. The sound of the wagon wheels and the horse's hoofs on the brick streets made me feel like I was back in time 100 years.

I'm going to try to make it next year, we'll see what happens.

We actually had a mini ice storm between 3:30 AM and 5:00 AM this morning. My deck and steps are covered in 1/4" of ice and the roads were icy about 5 miles south of Sunset. By the time my wife got down to Alvord this morning to take my grandson to school, the roads were just wet and the bridges clear. It's been 30 F here all morning and that means whatever falls will be freezing rain or sleet. I'm sure glad I did not have to go to Wichita Falls this morning. We only have to make one trip out again before Thanksgiving, and that suits me just fine.
I am not sure where all this cold weather is coming from. But it has apparently hit TX first. When I fire up the motorhome tomorrow morning it is predicted to be in the low teens. Looks like I will have to plug in the block heater overnight. Engine will fire up very easily when it is at 70°.

If y'all are going to attend, maybe we can have a mini Texas TBN meet up! Good food, good times, and good friends! Nothing could be better!

Yep, temperature, humidity, and wind speed. In the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines, Winter of 1971-72, was the only time I ever saw 20 below (on a thermometer at the apartment. The official low was only 16 below). I spent a good bit of time outside that morning and it wasn't bad at all; no wind. But the next morning, it had warmed up to only 3 below and the wind was blowing and I couldn't stay outside long at all.

Once, when I was flying into Bangor, Maine, the ramp was icy, it was -40, and the wind was horrible. I was flying freight, so no jet away people enclosure to keep one out of the elements. If you didn't "feather" your flight bag, (ie. turn it short side into the wind), the wind would hit the broad side of it and send you sailing across the icy ramp. True story, and another reason that I hate the cold. I've seen -40 a couple of times in the cold north, and hope that I never see that reading again, where I am physically.

33* this morning, North wind 6mph. Wind chill 26*

I see ice on elevated objects, but the water on the deck wasn't froze when I took out ashes at 5am. Thinking we better get to town today since Sunday looks to be an ice rink.

BTW, I watched the JFK memorial in Dallas yesterday, actually seemed quit nice, Dallas mayor gave a good speech and I'm not much into "speeches"
