Mine says 98˚, but there is suppose to be a thunderstorm at 10:45 PM and the wind will switch coming from the North, Just hold your breath . . . . .

I have not got to "play" with one because they are so rare here. The only one I have seen was during a flood and I had on sandals and experimentation was not possible. What kind of temperament do they have?

You know he never worried about a thing, I stopped and let him get across little road was right next to him,just carried on about his business and I did mine. They are fairly(I say fairly,its not uncommon to run across one) common around here,seen some up to 7ft,when we would go hog hunting in certain parts one person better be looking down,never have had one get aggressive,just let them get out way and carry on.

We topped out at 98, but it's dropping off now. Back down to 97. HOpe you get your rain. We won't get any. Never do. We have not had any since the end of June. The Dome is in full effect.

The Subaru said 102 at 4:30pm. It's 9:30pm and it's 83˚ - I see a shower crossing Temple now, that must be the one we are waiting on. It should be here in an hour and fifteen minutes.

I'm looking toward Bastrop/Smithville from my porch and see a lot of smoke. Does anybody have any info on this fire? Are any roads closed? There is a lot of black smoke - houses are burning.

Looks like it is not too far from Mikim and Bernice' place.
At least the wind has died down.

Kyle The fire is about 10 miles south of Bernice and with a North wind that is calming down it looks like it is diminishing.

I just got back from Bastrop and one guy that lives about 2 miles from the fire says it started on a ranch - a tractor mower bearing went out throwing sparks out starting the brush fire. I can still see the red glow in the sky (35 miles away). I was surprised to see the Bastrop VFD still in the station, I guess Smithville VFD, Lost Pines VFD, and Texas Forest Service firefighters are out there.

I drove from La Grange to Austin today and from Bastrop to Austin is very smokey, now the wind has shifted and the smoke is headed to Georgetown.

It's sad to hear that area is having to deal with a fire again.
