Bird, I'm convinced that you have an un-natural attraction to spreadsheets.

And all this time I thought it was natural.:laughing:

Thank you. I'm jealous, but hopeful that I'll be able to post a picture of my ponds doing that again!!!!

I have wild turkeys, on the property, never seen one as nice as the pictures displayed here.
I live in near desert conditions at the 2,000 ft level, of the B.C. Boundary country, we had a wet spring last year, and we had a normal snow pack, this year we have less than 6 inches, we should have about 3 ft. I have a river right across the road. I never run out of very good water, we are tapped into a spring. I was under the impression the drought was over for you, from the pictures I guess not.
Risk of fire is something we share, you all have a nice wet winter. Ours is a little colder than normal but dryer. Play safe.

Johnp33, The little rains we have been having this Fall are helping tremendously. The ground is so dry and 10% of the Texas trees have died, about 500 million. That percentage is a little higher on my 60 acres of trees. It seems the largest trees are affected first and die. Many stock tanks (small ponds that catch runoff water for cattle to drink) dried up during the summer giving the owners a chance to clean them out. When the rains finally came late this fall the frost had set in and all our hay grasses went dormant. Almost everyone is buying hay to sustain their cows for the winter. So now the ground is wetter but nothing, but a few planted winter grasses in cultivated land (rye and oats), are growing. As you can tell Lee County Texas is cattle country.

So are you Doukhobor and have a good vegetarian Borscht recipe? What is Midway between?

It looks like Boundary B. C. is a place to escape the Texas summer heat.

What is your "normal average" as if anything is normal anymore, of rain in your part of Texas?

We had a wet spring, only a couple periods of 4 dry days to make good horse hay when it was ready, a hot dry summer that required watering the garden every night to keep it alive, and now so much rain that a lot of Ohio's corn crop is still in the fields and can't be harvested. Most of Ohio has topped the all time yearly records of over 53 inches by now. Parts of SW Ohio have gotten more rain than SE Asia.

But there's a new year ahead that needs positive thoughts and ambitions all over the world.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Ron, I read years ago that east Texas averaged about 45" of rain a year, central Texas about 30" and west Texas about 15". I don't know just how accurate that is now, but probably not too far off. We're in north central Texas and supposedly our average is about 34". And with the nearly 6" I've gotten this month, I'm up to about 29" for the year.

It's slow going on this one.

What size is the watershed area for your pond? I'm trying to get about 3-1/2 acres to shed into my new ponds, but my ground is so sloped that runoff occurs pretty quickly with heavy rains.
