Just think, you could teach me how to make Texas Chile and I'd bring the recipe back here and market it as
JR Texas Chile. Great eaten from the Brushy Creek to the Possum Run.

Well, I do admit that it's a very nice area. Lots of sandy soil means good gardens with BIG watermelons. Fruit orchards do very well in this area too. Just down the road about 5 miles is Brushy Creek Vineyard and about 1/4 mile north on the same side of the Hwy at the Spur 511 exit is a classic car graveyard. You might find that AMC Pacer I accused you of using as inspiration for your user name. :laughing:

Here east of the Brazos River we spell it chilly,, Because we only brew it when it cold or hot or warm,, sometimes in the spring but mostly in the winter.. As long as you have cornbread,, okay okay or crackers and cold beer you can serve it anytime but mostly in chilly weather,, Lou

Up here, some people spell it Brassus River, but that doesn't make it right. Mostly, I like my chili hot instead of chilly, but that's just me.

TXDon; I found those Fire pickles at the HEB today! Couldn't wait to try them, so opened the jar on the way home. Had helf of them eaten before I got home. They are not hot, but they do have a good flavor. With the little firebreathing girl on them, I expected some heat, but I did enjoy them!

Folks who really appreciate chili spell it 'Wolf Brand' and it comes 'hot' or 'mild' right out of the can. :chilipepper:

Impossible. I believe you, but I also believe my heat meter. I must have just got a very hot batch - the fire breathing girl on the front and the running, burning, warning boy silhouette on the side warning label, made in Fort Worth. . . I can eat about 4 slices before I have to extinguish my mouth. I can't taste them at all, all I taste is heat. I'll have to try another jar from another HEB to see if the heat is consistent before I concede to being a hot pepper wimp.

I just put 4 pickle slices in a bowl of chill, my nose is running and sweat is coming from my fore head, I cannot feel my . . . oh oh oh bye.

Same jar as you describe, but I am NOT a hot pepper wimp, so might be considered hot by less pepper eater standards. I just find them tasty!
