.....<snip>... but I wonder how much mercury comes through our food and water supply?

How many people DONT know they have underlying conditions?

Yes, fish is highly contaminated with mercury. Even USA caught fish is suspect in ingredients, since it is all frozen, sent to China for processing, injected with formaldehyde, refrozen and sent back to the USA to be placed on the menu, or on store fish markets and freezers. So, when we add from vaccines, and other sources, how much becomes too much? It is likely an individual thing, not a one size fits all, but dose dependent.

We can't eliminate every risk, no matter how hard we try, but we can limit some exposure.

Don't know if still is, but many vaccines, including the flu, used to be grown on eggs. Some of the most serious reactions to the vaccine was in people allergic to eggs. If it is not grown on eggs now, (and it has to be grown on something), I wonder what it is, and how many people will become sensitive to that?

Used to never hear of a peanut allergy. I know a lot of kids would have gone hungry, had it not been for peanut butter sandwiches. We vaccinate the heck out of our kids today, (before they even reach the age of 2!), and have so many allergies now, that it is scary. Is there a correlation? Maybe.

TXDon got vaccinated, and nearly died from the flu.

I'll get get vaccinated with vaccines that I think are worth the risks, flu vaccine just happens to not be one of them.

I did not vaccinated. The Flu virus I got was not one of the Flu vaccines in the flu shot this year so it would have not mattered. I had a nasal swab at the hospital to confirm this. My Mother did get the flu shot and also had this same flu 3 weeks before I had my bout. As I understand there are hundreds if not thousands of flu viruses and the CDC picks 3 or so vaccines each year to put into the shot, so it is an incredible miss factor.

I avoid vaccines. Last time I was vaccinated against anything was as a child. I was given the measles vaccine in school. I then got the worst case of measles my doctor had ever seen. He literally kicked me out of his office and told my mother not to bring me back until I was better, because he was concerned for his other patients.

I also know of problems caused by vaccines. It is a syndrome called vaccinosis. No fear of needles here, but fear of too much heavy metal poisoning, coupled with the fact that I do not believe the flu shot to be effective at preventing the flu. TXDon got vaccinated, and nearly died from the flu.

I'll get vaccinated with vaccines that I think are worth the risks, flu vaccine just happens to not be one of them.

OK, so you have 2 reasons: (1) fear of a possible side effect from heavy metal, and (2) lack of confidence in the shot's effectiveness. I'd say those are good reasons if you're right. You're saying you believe the vast majority of the medical profession is wrong. Well, I've felt that way about some things involving the medical profession, too.:D But in this case, I think you're the one mistaken instead of the medical profession, and neither of us can conclusively prove our beliefs to be right.:) I'm accustomed to being in the minority in many things, but I don't think so this time.

Got my Flu shot last October in MI. Hope it works in TX.
My rain gauge is empty. Not a drop in it even from light morning dew we have been getting last few days.

Stay away from Lee County Ron until this passes, CVS was soooooo crowded with people picking up flu meds. Karen said one lady was yelling at the pharmacist because shed needed Tamiflu for her kids and did not have the $120.

.16" rain in my very accurate (but Jim unapproved) rain gauge. I am sure after a few months the rain gauge will be on the approved side for Jim when he gets used to it. He is going though the same thought process I did when I received mine, but after a year this has out lasted all my other rain gauges and I trust the accuracy. He will be glad he did not send it back.

Put on your reading glasses and read the entire thing, and related tabs, carefully if you are concerned now, as a result of FG's post.

Thimerosal that is used in large vials that are drawn from multiple times from multiple single use syringes/needles to protect the contents from contamination from other bad microbes is not the same as methylmercury that you get from seafood and the environment.

Thimerosal in Vaccines

Bird, IMO I don't know why anyone would not get the vaccine either, unless directed not to by their doctor for some other problem they currently have. Next years vaccine will be prepared based on what types the actual 2013-2014 virus proved to be. So they are always a year behind but very likely to be in the same group.
My grandfather was a victim of the flu epidemic of 1919 at the young age of 33 leaving behind my uncle and mother both under the age of 5 for a tough upbringing.
Flu epidemics and other epidemics are very historically significant all over the world. Some of the modern day thinking of anti-vaccination based on unproven theories will probably end up biting society in the ... IMO.
If you ever get run over by a truck you usually learn to stand on the curb till it is safe to cross the street.

Yes, I believe they use some type of "trending" to predict each years flu, at least that's what they described when I took my classes at the CDC for Avian medicine as part of a Unv. of Georgia class. (non degree class)

Don, I was told (what I mentioned way back in the thread) That there is some immunity to lesser strains in older individuals, not saying any of you guys are "old":D and especially not FG and Brandi since they haven't even made it to 30!

FG, you bring up an interesting thought about the growth median too. As far as the Peanut allergies, We had discussions with a few Docs about this when My daughter and I got tested. IIRC they said PBA was up by 3x's in young people and no known causes. One Hypothesis is OVER medication ANTIBIOTICS. Children are over protected from the bodies natural exposure to allergens and pathogens.

I think overuse of Antibiotics including household products (soaps ect tra) will do great harm to the human race.

BTY , Even our coastal fish that never see China have Mercury. Some rivers and streams are so Poisonous that they post "don't eat the fish". I believe the Hudson river drainage system is one.

Bird, After this last bout with the flu I'll take the small percentage and get the shot next year. I do not think the medical profession or CDC is wrong they just don't go far enough. I know that you being an ex-smoker believe they are wrong so what convinced you, besides cost, that the medical profession was right about smoking.

The mercury in vaccines has either been eliminated or reduced to less than a can of tuna. Much of what you hear is internet hype.

But this is for real and fortunately only happens in a very small % of the populace.

Guillain-Barré syndrome
Consult a doctor if you have a medical concern.
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a serious disorder that occurs when the body's defense (immune) system mistakenly attacks part of the nervous system. This leads to nerve inflammation that causes muscle weakness and other symptoms.
