Ron, Tractor Supply here just had a special on sunflower seeds, a 40 lb bag for a little over $18. They also had suet cakes @ 11 for $10. My wife got plenty of each and we have them out for the birds, but our bird population seems to be pretty light this year. I think there are lots of dry seeds in their natural habitat that keep them well fed here. We had a good wild sunflower crop this year. I can tell from your picture that that is not the case where you are. Tell your wife that we don't have winter snakes here and Sunrise Ranch is still for sale.:D

36* this morning and 8mph west wind, big improvement from yesterday, still fricken dry as a bone though. Weekend looks to be fairly reasonable:thumbsup:

And to think, some people like places like Colorado, where it is always this dry. There is a reason some of us never stayed in that state beyond a year!

Going to drag up another downed tree by chaining it to the tractor. I can cut on it easier near the house, and then stack it. Have a nice guy that is going to split whatever is oversized, once I cut it. That will be a HUGE help! I may have to consider one of those splitters like TXDon got, if this winter doesn't leave soon!

I have another tree trying to die, and it is closer to sheds, etc. The same nice guy is going to come take it down for me, in a couple of weeks. Where would we be without a good neighbor? The tree by the sheds is more than I am willing to attempt.

jinman; The grandson will enjoy his gifts, as soon as temps begin moderating! I can't even launch my paddle boat here, due to the low tank level, so maybe we will get a rain, as soon as temps are reliably above freezing!

Lou; You are correct, I rarely use gloves. However, with the intense cold of this winter, I have broken that rule, once or twice!

kyle; Kind of you to allow me a t-shirt and socks! I'm afraid headlights might be prominent in the temps predicted for next week though! :confused2:

We paid $22 at TSC a few weeks ago. I should watch the adds better. It is not worth the gas to drive there unless
a lot of stuff we need is on sale or we are in that way anyhow for something else.

That Ranch sure looks nice from the air and the real estate pictures of course are usually of the best features.
It has been for sale for a long long time so must be something amiss.
Tell your cousin, that likes to give out his number to ladies at the grocery, that he should have a picture of something similar printed on his cards.:D:dance1::stirthepot:

I'm glad to see FG-19 didn't fly off to Cabo San Lucas last week after passing her physical and it's too cold in Wise county for her to be at the Bluebonnet Resort south of you.:D

Happy birthday to your grandson!
Oh, to be 14 again..... Maybe.

Brandi--Glad to hear your back up to speed.

Dennis--Good news about your mom.

Charlie
Thanks Charlie. I went grocery shopping yesterday and came home fine, not wore out.
hugs, Brandi

I think what is amiss is that it is overpriced for the area. It's like building a spec house up the street from section 8 housing. Also, it has limited highway access because of the RR tracks. Down the road 25 miles are several similar places that are visible from the road and have great highway frontage with nice entryways not impacted by RR tracks. For some reason, people around here like to show off their big houses from the road. If Texans have money, they drive it, wear it, and live in mansions visible from the road.:D

Shoot! it got just plain hot today, went golfing and it was cool to start, but heated up quick. Tomorrow is supposed to push 80, then the bottom drops out. We will see...

NWS says Denton hit 68 today and will go to 73 tomorrow. I got my ladder out, and strung air hoses around the house and cleaned out the rain gutters; had to take 2 downspouts loose to clean the leaves out of them. I started with a light jacket on, but it didn't take long for me to shed that. I recently had some trees drastically pruned so I won't have that job of cleaning out rain gutters, hopefully, for a couple of years.

And as you said, after tomorrow, the bottom drops out. Monday the high is forecast to be 35. I have a 7 a.m. appointment to get a temporary crown on a back tooth replaced with the permanent crown.

And Tuesday, the high is forecast to be 34. And my wife has a 9:30 a.m. appointment with an oral surgeon. Even though he says he'll be splitting her lower gums a good part of the way around to chisel, chip, grind, and sand the bone, then sew it up, he says the recovery and healing will not be as bad as when she had the teeth pulled.

Oh, well, it's gonna be too cold to get out and do anything else anyway.

I have to drive to Wichita Falls to see a pulmonary specialist on Tues afternoon, so I'm glad they are saying this next front will be dry. No way I'm drivin' up there in the snow.

I think the problem is likely the RR tracks themselves. Lived near some in college, and hated the trains and their noise. I am 10 miles from the nearest ones here, and they STILL wake me up, with the whistle blowing at street crossings, in the middle of the night.

There was a nice piece of property in central Texas that I went to look at. Thought it would be nice for raising cattle and crops and live, when I retire from a "paying" job. Price seemed a little low, so thought I'd better jump on it. Went to see it. The RR tracks ran through the middle of it! Great grass, nice land, beautiful area, but there wouldn't be enough insulation in walls and windows for me to ever live there. Last I looked, the price has come lower, and it is STILL on the market, after 2 years!

On another note, if anyone is able to look outdoors, from a hilltop right now, the sunset is absolutely gorgeous! I took a pic a couple of evenings ago of one similar. And when the night sky is clear, the stars have me longing for night flying!

Once Spring and Summer roll around, I'll be buzzing y'all, and having fun! You will know it is me, because I'll wing rock as I fly over!

Talking about railroad and trains,, I remember when I was young man of 14teen or so jumping a train and thinking I could ride 15teen miles down tracks,, get off and catch the other one coming back.. Hundred and ten miles later in Ft. Smith, Arkansas it stopped,, but I jumped off when it slowed down,, I didn't know it was going to stop.. hurt a bit,, little hide lost.. two old men watched and laughed.. said why didn't you wait till it stopped?.. I said why don't you read the line above.. I ask them about getting back to where I come from,, They said there will be a train,, gave a number,, coming thru in about three hours that will take you back.. some of the best hours I ever spend listening to those old men.. I bet they were in there 40's..they loved the tracks.. had some stories to tell.. Never got back on those tracks,, afraid it wouldn't stop till it got to New York City.. did get there but a different route,, another stories.:D. Lou
