Yes, it often is. Popular place.

Food is good but I’ve had as good or better lots of places. I think there is some nostalgia associated with the Bluebonet that is just appealing to people.

If you recall the Corral Cafe that was in Madisonville for many, many years it was much the same. They finally bit the dust when it became hard to keep good help. So far the Bluebonnet has been able to keep a great crew together.

The Corral Cafe was four miles from my house. Kinda miss it. Sam's in Fairfield is pretty good.

Haven稚 been through a Leona in awhile. Have to check it out.

Speaking of which has anyone been to the Apache Pass Steakhouse near Rockdale? Passed by that a couple weeks ago and timing wasn稚 right to stop but it looks like an interesting place if you are going anywhere close by.

We have three bbq places. McKenzie's ranks third on my list. They have been in Huntsville for years, then opened up here about four or five years ago. Mallett’s bbq is based out of Iola with a store in Navasota and now here for the last year or two right across from the dreaded Bucee's. If you ventured to the west side of town there's a black fella they call Smoke Larry on Highway 21. Larry's Country Barbecue. Very good. It's a tiny building with four or five tables. We go to Mallett’s probably once a week. I'll go to Larry's for lunch on occasion.
On another note, I believe Leona General Store steakhouse is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. If you go, get there early. Gets crowded quick.

So this is a first.... not at my property on Saturday and get a pic sent to me from the camera I have on the front gate. Game Warden unlocked my gate and drove in. Anyone else have this happen? I can only assume he had a key to the electric company lock??

They usually do or can get them as far as I know. I gave the Game Warden gate codes and invited him to stop by anytime he wanted/needed to.

That is a lot of good info! Thanks!

Ive seen Mallet's and Smoke Larry's but haven't tried either of them and only had burgers at Mckenzies.

Some friends from Dallas and Houston meet up with me sometimes at Legend's. They like it quite a bit.

I remember when the Corral in Madisonville, the Royal Cafe in Crockett and Shepherds in Nacogdoches were legendary places for travelers in East and east Central Texas. There was a good place in Centerville too, about a block south of the square, can't recall the name. They are all gone now.

They have added room on so the line isn't that bad as it use to be,well the times I have ate in wasn’t much of a wait. We can usually order and pick up pretty quick and eat at the house lol

Country Cousins in centerville also is good bbq,I get there big loaded baked potato with brisket in it. They built new place there behind there old place
