We got about 3/8 ths inch today since 7am. Not much, but we have been getting an inch or two for the last 3 weeks. The pond is getting full. About two feet to overflow.:cloud9:

I'm not sure what you mean by river rats?

The pic is of the creek. It has water in it, which is something new, but it's not flowing all that strong. My ponds are getting water, but nothing to get excited about just yet. I've been putting sticks at the edge and I'm trying to figure out how much I'm getting. Seems like the lake raises 2:1 for what comes down. The small pond is closer to 6:1 and is filling up nicely.

I meant either Nutria or Beaver. Running water is pretty good, gets me excited when it's been so dry. The small pond, that's the one across from your house? or do you have another one above Marabou (sp)?

Same here Ron, we are not letting any moisture escape, all clouds are dried before we send them out. You might want to check to see what the Canadians are up to.

It's been dry so long I forgot to put any fire wood under cover, sure could use a fire this morning, 43 degrees.

The County burn ban was lifted last week. There was a haze over the county from all the brush piles burning, they have accumulated for more than a year.

Woke up to rain this morning - 2.25" the last 2 days.

NWS shows Denton at 34 degrees and getting light snow.:shocked: I haven't seen any of that snow yet, but it's still raining. I haven't gone out yet, but I can see from here that my gauge has 3/4" or more overnight.

Okay Ron. I'll quit sending rain your way if you quit sending snow my way. The 2-1/2" of overnight snow is growing by the minute as more is falling. School start is delayed 2 hours because of the stuff. It's sticking well enough to coat my gravel driveway, but I can tell it is slush. The main highways should be okay. The temperature is bouncing around at 32 F and that's the perfect temperature to make snow.

Here are a couple of quick snapshots looking out my office door.

Also EDDIE: I bet the green in your water is from a pond somewhere upstream that somebody had dye treated for algae and it overflowed in the rain. I doubt that the green color is natural, but I could easily be wrong.

I've only seen a couple beavers in Lake Marabou this year, which is down from what I've dealt with in previous years. I guess the creek being dry has cut down on their travels. I've never seen a Nutria, but I'm told they are fairly common. What I'm most nervous about is Aligators. That creek feeds into the Sabine, and there are quite a few Aligators in there. I figure it's just a matter of time until one works it's way up the creek and then finds Lake Marabou. Turtles, snakes and beavers have all figured it out, so why not Gators?

I've managed to get 3 inches of rain out of the storms. I'm trying my hardest to get as much water as I can!!!!

The creek is many miles long, and from what I know, there isn't any big lakes anywhere near it. The ponds are all many feet low, so I'm also doubtful that if one had somehow received enough water to overflow, that it would have had enough "treated" water in it to affect the color of the water in the creek.

The color was really nice to see in the water, but after being dry for so many months, I'm wondering if maybe the color is from what might have been growing or settling in the creek bed?

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Bandera County in the hill country northwest of San Antonio.

We finally started to put a small dent in our drought with this weekend's rain and the little tanks, arroyos, and watering holes have a a few inches of water in them.

Glad to see some of you other guys are getting the wet stuff. Couldn't have been a nicer thing to wake up to...

We love the Bandera area and try to spend several weeks a year there. It is one of the places we are thinks about retiring to within the next few years.

We got the snow too:thumbsup: pretty much the same as Jim. My wife said as she got close to Weatherford going to work, it was just rain.

Eddie, I have no doubt you will someday see a gator. They have spotted one here a month ago in Eagle Mountain lake and showed him on the news, Wildlife officer said we are in the Western range and new they where around Dallas Ft.Worth.

Ron, Don and Brandi are right, we are trying to keep this to ourselves, but I'm pretty Sure Bird is the one closest to you, so if he let some slip by...hmmm

I'm keeping all I can. I guess some of our heaviest rain was around 3 a.m. this morning. Anyway, I think it's finally over and I got a total of about 2.88". I was up at the new Walmart and Sam's Club on West University Drive in Danton this morning and saw an SUV come in the parking lot with a pile of snow on the rear end; guess he came from Jim's area. And in spite of both of those buildings being very new, both Walmart and Sam's Club had one or two buckets sitting in the floor to catch water leaks from the roof.

We got about 3 3/8 in total for this storm yesterday and this morning. I can't remember the last time we've seen that much rain at one time.

Jim that snow sure looks pretty. I remember last year I'd only had my tractor about a month when we got that big snow. Who'd a thunk I would have to plow the drive here in Texas. It was a lot of fun, but I wouldn't want to have to do it all winter.

As I look out my office door now, all that snow is melted. The only place there is any snow left is in drifts on my deck and the windshield of my parked truck. My grandson got to build a snowman before going to school this morning, so all is well.:thumbsup:

We got the biggest rain since I can remember. About 2.5 inches. It filled the pond about 2-3 feet, needs another 2-3 feet to overflow.

Finally quit here, if I shake the water gauge, I have 3", but really a 1/10 under, BUT who's splitting hairs when we got some rain!!!

Haven't seen my tank yet, but sure got my fingers crossed.

News said the record for 1st day of snow in the D/FW metro was like the 23rd?? any one catch that? Pete Delcus, Channel 8

Kyle, good for you.:thumbsup: You FINALLY got more rain than I did. I topped out at 1-1/2" in my gage for this storm not including the melting snow that couldn't have added much more than a couple more 10ths.

The weatherman said last night that we might have low temps as low as 23 F, but I bottomed out at 28 F this morning. We did turn the heat on in all our outbuildings with water last night to just be safe. It's that time of year where you just can't take a chance.
