Hey Lou I was thinking of you as I was heading back to the house after pond dirt work and stopped at the top of the hill and got a natural high. Do you ever think of leaving the bottom lands moving to the hills like Mike and I did.

Hey Don I was raised in southeastern part of Oklahoma,, where you walked up hill both ways.. Now I can go to the Gulf and look out at the sea and see for miles.. no trees.. but sometimes the waves in motion is like a leaf swaying in the wind.. Were the concrete ends and sea begins.. We all want to get away in our youth but go back home when we get old.. maybe someday I will set on top of that hill and wonder,, should I cut down those dazzzz tree so I can see.. Lou

robby I got a grandson that travels the gulf coast from the keys to southern California,, he like hugging the coast I guess.. he carry a guitar, I gave him years ago, on his back.. set, sings and play with his hat out.. makes more money than most.. can't sing worth a darn.. but he happy,, so is most of the girls he has travelling with him.. He stop by when he is on this part of the gulf.. wish I could do that.. sing that is.:laughing:. thanks for the smile tonight.. Lou

I was raised in Houston and all I wanted to do was escape. I cut and ran as soon as I could - 50 years later. I might miss the place of my youth when I get older but now I'm living in the county of good memories where I spent my summer vacations with my grandparents.

Cut the trees only if the view is worth sacrificing the cool shade for in the summer.

Lou - spent 18 years in Angleton --Raised in Iowa and hated it. Left as soon as I graduated HS. Spent years in the USAF around the globe looking for a home. Found Bastrop county in 81 and adopted it as home then had to leave it following the job market in 90. Finally got to come "home" when I retired Jan 09. Wife was raised here.

I was a little different; raised out in the country and in small towns. When I was a kid, I used to visit maternal grandparents in Oklahoma City, and we came to the State Fair in Dallas each year. I was fascinated with the big cities, loved to visit them, and was sure I'd really hate to live in one. And then I lived and worked in Dallas for 30 years.
