How long do I cook the pie? 50 minutes or until a knife stuck in it comes out clean? This is what my old pecan recipe states. I making it tonight.

Brandi, I just transfer some farm plates to my name and the new State Law requires a Texas Agriculture or Timber Registration Number to obtain the farm plates.

I also heard they are starting to look closely at truck farm plate usage. Just be sure if you are ever stopped with truck farm plates to know that you are going to pick up feed or one of the other allowable activities only.

I got my 10 ton trailer on July 31, 2012. Texas's congress critters met since then, so I am not surprised you need the Ag or Timber exemption to get farm tags now. Farm tagged trailers,used for yourself hauling your property somewhere(like farm or friends or repair) and not for hire was legal up to 180 miles. It's all a gray area. That is why I went ahead and got my CDL, instead of class C operator's license. Officer, I'm hauling my tractor to my friends house to do a favor.

You can get your exemption online and print out your card. It is all vague on the website. I called to verify about planning and building something to raise some critters. I gathered that is allowed (as far as a phone call to a state employee can be trusted), so I got my Ag exemption to raise catfish, Now planning on raising ducks.

They have been looking at truck farm plate usage for a while. Since I drive forever to and from work, I don't have farm plates on the truck.....too much risk getting a fine. A coworker that lives near here, has farm plates on his pickup. But he usually rides his Harley to work.
My Uncle, before he died, got regular tags for his truck to drive to his boot shop in Canadian, about 25 miles from the farm. That was in the mid 90s. When he had the boot shop a mile from the farm in Higgins, he just had farm tags. This even as he had 580 acres in wheat and alfalfa.

Thanks. I did the knife after 50 minutes, and then went another 10 minutes. By then my chef son was here and put 5 tooth picks in the pie and pronounced it done.

I am feeling better. I did have to get up and take some cough medicine, but I am having the tractor urge now. Gorgeous weather. So I am good. I'm off until the 5th, so I got to fix that tractor itch. Maybe with digging up a huge dead oak near the neighbor's fence and the island pond. I'll have to get my son to help pull it away from the fence with my 4 foot bumper jack and chains, after I did around it. He climbs the ladder and puts a chain 20 feet up. There is only about 4 feet between the fence and tree and I don't feel like repairing fence.

Well I am happy.. it my birthday,, 67 today.. my wife had a small car accident at walmart parking lot.. but a major heart attach yesterday.. Life Flight to Hermann Hospital,, they gave her CPR at the accident,, broke her ribs,, but they got her heart beating again.. They found the problem this afternoon at Hermann and fixed it.. A long story short maybe another 48 years of marriage.. we will be married 48 years on the 31st of this month.. yep I am drunk but she okay.. Lou

Lou, First, I'm so glad your wife is still with you. Second, Happy Birthday.
In the basement there at Herman Hospital is where my Century Heart study group is located. If her problem is atherosclerosis they are the experts.

Lou, I'm so glad your wife was able to get the help she needed in time to save her life.
I recommend the Hermann park zoo if you need to get outside for a bit. Unless you don't care for animals.
