If you like tequila,, There is a new company that has got a foot hold in the market of liquors,, it's tequila have won several blue ribbons for taste all over world and including Mexico,, also starting to move up the ladder.. may want to check it out.. I know what you are thinking.. but Lou I thought you liked scotch?.. You're right,, I do like scotch but I have several thousand shares of Montalvo Spirits, Inc.. (tqla).:D. So get out there and buy their tequila.. Right now it is only sold on the east and west coast.. I never tried it,, but it is highly rated by the people that do know tequilas .. the stock is cheap (right now) and they do have a produce to sell.. Lou

FG-- Remember Margarita is more than a woman.

Charlie

I like the old fashioned Margaritas, but not the blended frozen kind. I've made hundreds of them in a shaker glass as a bartender. I'd run a lime around a glass rim and then dip it into salt. Add ice, tequila, triple sec,and a little sweet-n-sour over the ice in the shaker glass, cap it, and give it a vigorous shake. Uncap and strain into the glass with the limed and salted rim. I've made plenty of frozen ones too, but the traditional makes a good first drink on a hot day, then I want to switch to bourbon and soda for a good sipper.:)

Margaritas are best served "Straight up".

Okay, I'll bite. How do you serve a Margarita straight up?:confused3:

Just like you described....Not frozen, and no rocks, just shaken with ice and strained into the glass! Although, I prefer my glass to not be salted. For as big a salt-aholic as I am, I don't like salt with my margaritas, only if I am doing shots with cheap tequila.

Happy New Year to All!!!!

Perfect! That's my definition too. Sometimes people get neat and straight-up confused. Most martinis are served straight-up, but nobody orders them that way.

I'd like to try them as well as the pickles .. I really like it hot ... I've seen friends break a sweat on hot stuff that just puts a smile on my face.

I am the same way, the hotter the better.

I don't drink martinis, but have put away a couple of bottles of vermouth, STRAIGHT. It was the only thing the hotel didn't put under lock and key, after hours, a few years ago, when another pilot friend and I were away from home base for training. (I guess they figured no one would want to have it!) We had bought a case of beer from the bar, when closing time came, and put it on ice in the bathtub. It was gone too quickly. The friend raided the poolside bar, and came back with a bottle (full) of vermouth. After choking down a couple of glasses of that, over the rocks, I said that was about as bad as anything I'd ever had. The friend mentioned there was a full bottle of sweet vermouth there, but that was the only other thing "available". (I'd never had sweet vermouth.?) I sent him for the bottle. After drinking that stuff, the dry vermouth didn't seem as bad. We were in south Texas, close enough to the border that, had we been sober, we would have walked across and bought whatever we wanted. I will say, I can still remember the old Sci-Fi movies playing all night on the TV. Godzilla was in one, and I think another was something about the "Thing That Ate Tokyo". All were in Japanese, and subtitled. I can't remember ever having a worse case of the giggles. But it took some choking it down to put away all of that vermouth before we vacated the premises to get back to DFW on a commute. I think we caught a flight around noon. (Had originally planned on catching the 0700 flight!) Great times, but I really am amazed that I have any liver left!

I looked for those pickles at a grocery store today, and did not see them. The store carried Best Maid pickles, but not that variety. Now I am on a mission! Where did you find them, TXDon?

Brandi-- Well I am happy you like it. We served some spicy food, so maybe that helped cut some of the sweetness. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas, and I hope you are feeling better. Have a Happy New Year.

Charlie
Charlie,
My tongue doesn't like spicy food. Never has. My son (the chef) is always conplaining when my holiday dishes are mild.

I feeling good, but still coughing up some crud. Seems getting out in the sunshine helps.
hugs, Brandi

HEB carries the BestMaid extreme heat, at least in Bastrop. Do not let children or the elderly near these pickles (unless you're a mean person).

Thanks, TXDon! I'll look in an HEB the next time I am in Granbury. that is the closest to me.

I bought a bottle of Reposado Patron yesterday afternoon. That stuff goes down good. Like Brandy, I can only stand a little at a time. All I had was 4 fingers worth.

Can you say Gig'em...Aggies. Texas A&M 52 Duke 48. Johnny Football was jumping hurdles, eh...players.

Happy New Years. Fireworks can still be heard off in the distance. Rain continues.
Over 3" of ground soaking rain during the past 2 1/2 days. TX has to be one of the best for places for getting a car, RV and anything else that wants to check out how bad they can get stuck in mud.

Happy New Year folks!

Can't do much tequila straight. It makes me do things I shouldn't and can't remember. Love me a good Marg or few on the rocks. Lots of fresh lime. Almost can't put too much fresh squeezed lime on/in a Margarita. Good thing about all that Lime, after a few it puckers your mouth so tight it automatically shuts your drinking down.

Anytime I drink straight liquor, I like to have something on the side to sip that is not sweet, but cleanses my palate between sips of liquor. For me, my preference is plain soda water, but bottled water or good tap water will also do. I break that rule with tequila because lime and salt are always my choice. I tried beer once, but found it turned me quickly into a sleepy drunk.:(
