Talking about licorice how many remember licorice candy?.. For some reason Jim Beam has a licorice taste to me,, Brings back some old memories, My older brother (6) and myself (5 year old) would walk to a local country store and get a gallon of coal oil for the lanterns,, we had no electricity,, not that I am whining,, I like walking around in the dark stepping on things that squealed,, But to the real memories,,
We would be given a dime to pay for the oil.. That cost seven cents a gallon,, that was back before the federal government was trying to balance the budget on the back of the smokers, drinkers and truckers.. which in some cases was the same person,,
Anyway we would have three cents left,, which was our for walking three miles round trip.. We would invest it all in licorice or lick wick not sure how to sell it.. I just remember how it tasted,, like Jim Beam,, So every time I have a drink of Jim I will think of WALKING THREE MILES IN THE COLD BAREFOOTED JUST FOR SOME DARN LICORICE.. Have a nice day..Lou
