Woohoo! Passed . . . Heart is good!

TXDon; But you can tell her, I think ALL guys are wimps when they get sick!

FG Congratulations!! What exam did you have to do, to pass the heart test. 2 years after my heart attack I did a 12 lead EKG while on the treadmill and passed with flying colors. The Dr. said if he didn't have my history in front of him he would not be able to tell I had a heart attack. Only scans or invasive test would show my plaque build up. I wonder how many pilots have heart disease and do not know it? For 50% of the people the first symptom is death, and that would have been my first symptom but my wife wimped me out and made me go to the ER.

Oh yeah, we are all wimps till we are needed, beside we have very very severe symptoms that we can handle. Kind of. :D

TXDon; A class I physical is complete with treadmill and stress test. I had a thorough physical today, so I am not concerned about underlying health issues. I really wasn't worried going in. I've been told by more than one physician that I am in better physical condition than most teenagers, because they sit on their tush, and I am physically active. (I just wouldn't mind having my teenage body back, so it never told me about my physical activity the next day!)

If one is going to be PIC in an air carrier, that test is every 6 months. Then there is the mandatory age 60 retirement, no matter how good a shape you are in. I could have gone in for a Class III, if I just wanted to fly my own plane for fun, but thought I might sell a few rides in the future, with the right airplane, so needed more than the Class III. I will be able to do mine yearly, with my own airplane, instead of every 6 months, as I did when flying for an airline. Besides, I like the "bragging rights" of always going for the top of the line, and also bragging rights of acing whatever I attempt. In case y'all haven't figured it out, I am a Type A personality!

Not related to the flying physical, but I have had a full body CAT scan, and no issues in the vessels. Oh, and BP runs 105/60. Yes, organic beef, pork, butter, cheese, eggs and tons of salt really have taken a toll on me, huh? Maybe it all of the Tabasco Sauce I use that balances it all out! Or, maybe all of the booze I drink just kills any germs, and keeps me healthy! :D

I take NO medications, just the natural food supplement vitamins, about every other day, and extra Vitamin D in the winter.

Thanks for the congrats, y'all! I have a friend in another state, that built a hotrod of an airplane. He keeps telling me I need an RV-6! I may break down and do it. The next few days will be checking on hangar rent, at different airports. I'd like to keep it at MW, but there is a waiting list for there. Local airport would be close, but also lacks a few amenities. Can't have an airplane sitting out when a Springtime hailstorm rolls through.

bindian; We might take an RV-6 to Oshkosh in 2015! :D

It's my understanding that the vaccine takes a couple of weeks to be effective, and the flu season has at least a couple of months to go. If you don't get the shot and don't get the flu, I reckon you can say you won that round of Russian roulette. After all, the odds are 5 to 1 in your favor.

Would someone explain to me WHY anyone does not get the flu shot? Fear of needles? Fear of side effects? Cost? Inconvenience because of the time it takes? I just don't understand at all.:confused3:

Bird

I don't know about most but it is not a fear just personal experience with vaccinations. First when I worked EMS many years ago did a call where a healthy woman died 24 hrs. after receiving her flu vaccination, ME attributed cause of death to vaccine.

The second bad experience was closer to home, my wife, with in days of receiving the first of 3 vaccinations for hepatitis B, she is a nurse and it was mandatory for her employment, had a severe reaction. The vaccination which was to protect her attacked her immune system, and lead to MS.

I know that many in health care will say that doesn't happen, all I would say is do your own research. Do you know that for every vaccination that a Dr gives part of the cost gets put into a government controlled fund for compensation for adverse reactions?

There also is no way to tell how many the vaccination helps, for many the body eliminates it, my self included, I had the Hep. B vaccination all 3 then had the blood test only to find it didn't take I then had the booster still nothing.

I'm not saying it is not worth wile for some maybe most just please be informed, know the side effects.

David
