Texas Heat!

Larry, my wife looked at the Crater Lake webcam yesterday and there is still snow there. The road is clear, but there's snow everywhere else. Unbelievable!

And my brother in the middle of Washington state says it's still too wet and cold there to suit him.

The wind did it to us again last night. This time we didn't get any rain with it, but we lost power for 2-1/2 hours overnight. For Father's Day, I get to go around and reset all the clocks.

I understand Muenster and Gainesville had rain, but also had a considerable amount of wind damage. The NWS shows Denton got .01" of rain before midnight but I didn't get any rain, and fortunately no wind damage either.

I think you Texans stole our heat! This has been the coolest spring I have ever seen in the Mojave. The high yesterday was 87 about 15 degrees below normal. I think we have only had 2 days above 100 so far this year. One back in early May and one last week.

We too have had a windy spring, but we have also had a lot of clouds which we rarely see.

By the way, you can keep our heat...

We don't really NEED it!

My buddy in Muenster said 80-90mph winds and I think it hailed twice.

I want rain but not if it comes with that kind of storm.

Mount Washington, which is about an hours drive north of us on Vancouver Island BC is open for skiing and snow boarding this weekend June 18 & 19th. Most things are about a month behind in growth, our strawberry's which should normally be finished about now are just forming green berries. Hope to have some by the end of June, only about a month late. It has been a cold, wet and dull spring so far this year up our way. Think I would rather have our weather than the long drought they have had in the Texas area. :)

They are saying we have a 40% chance of rain this week, we are certainly praying so. However, that could disappear in a heartbeat. Last few times its split and went around us. It's horrible out. Today we have fire warnings out because of the wind and heat. I'm daily seeing more trees in distress.

It will be awful here if we lose all our beautiful trees. That is why I liked it so much better down here then up at Dallas. Nothing but old prairie up there.

Well the storms saw me hiding out on the back porch. It all went North and South. the ones headed for us kept dieing out a mile or 2 away. I think we got a few drops.

Weird this was, usually when a storm blows through, the outbound winds are usually cooler, not yesterday.

I would take the high winds and some small hail right now, may blow off a few limbs, but if those trees don't get some water, I will loose some for sure. Tues. has some promise, 50% with the "cool front"

Larry, I used to carry and drink Gatorade both when I was doing gas leakage surveys and when I was cutting and baling hay. But then a neighbor told me his doctor said Powerade was better for you than Gatorade. And I found that I liked the taste of the Powerade better, too. But my wife told me she saw something on the TV news that beer was better for hydrating yourself than either Gatorade or Powerade, so that sounded good enough to me.

I'll drink to that.   :licking:

Yesterday 107, today at noon only 99.

Kyle, we just got back from Muenster and couldn't believe the damage. We go up there every once in awhile because we like to get our meats from Fischer's Meat Market. Today, homeowners as well as professionals everywhere cutting up the trees that are down or broken. The main street (in front of Fischer's) is blocked off at the highway and about 3 blocks north of the highway. Roofs are peeled back and debris everywhere. Oddly enough we found one way in to Fischer's and that was from the east. There was a big sheet of paper on the south door that said "OPEN" so we went in. No power, no lights, dark in there, so of course anything refrigerated isn't for sale today. Of course we saw electric company trucks, but no telling when power will be restored. And I guess it's hot in the houses. Even folks who were not working at cleaning up the debris were standing around outside. But most were picking up debris and limbs and loading every truck, pickup, and trailer in sight.

We drove through a little rain east of Muenster, but at least it wasn't raining in town while we were there. As you said, we'd sure like to have some rain, but sure don't want that kind of devastation.

Yeah, I hear they got the North Entrance open last week, and the West Rim Drive, but the East Rim Drive is still under snow. They try really hard to have that open by the 4th of July.

I used to work with an old carpenter whose favorite saying was, "If I had a farm in Texas and a home in ****, I'd sell the farm and go home." I used to think he was talking about West Texas, but this year it sounds like East Texas isn't much better.
