We have a similar version... no mention of the 70' section for lots with homes... only the 100' perimeter for unimproved parcels.

Every year the city seems to tweak it a bit...

One year they cited people for not clearing hillsides... so they did, then came the winter rains and terrible erosion and slides where none have been before.

It seems sometimes the various agencies don't bother getting together on this kind of thing before subjecting the public to it...

Another guy told the fire Marshall at a public meeting he will do whatever the fire Marshall directs so long as it in in writing... he didn't want trouble with the endanger species folks.

The Fire Marshall never did follow up after repeated requests... didn't want to step on another agency.

The biggest thing I will never understand is why public agencies/government agencies are exempt.

My uncle has spent a lifetime on his landscape and was found non-compliant two years ago for the space around his home...

Being the hard head he is... he went to the local fire station and started taking video of the same items he was cited for... the fireman came out and asked him to stop so he kept filming from the street...

Video was sent to the city manager and that was the last my Uncle heard... two years ago.

Robert, driving down Hyw 21 near Bastrop I could take hundreds of pictures of houses not damaged because of the cleared space around the house and hundreds that just the chimney is standing and the burned vegetation and forest canopy is right next to the house.

Well, my brother is in Whitesboro. I'll probably get a call from him today so he can brag about all the rain he got. Good for you, xtn. The heavy rain went east of me and I didn't get a drop, but I'm happy for you folks.

Same as Jinman, lot's of promising clouds, but the front passed me before the storms generated. DFW did pretty good, they said it was raining in Dallas County 6" an hr. Probably the most intense storms since MAY, with up to 2" hail.

Not a drop here. Sure would have liked to have more rain, but I'd rather do without the rain than to have the storm damage some of those folks in Dallas had.

Especially if that involved 2" hail? We had nearly 2" of rain last night and needed it too.

I have seen this too around local fires here.

Those CAL-Fire regs are not enforced across the state; mostly it is recommended. Some jurisdictions do enforce it, as Ultrarunner mentions.

With all the fires we have in the western states, I am surprised that insurance companies have not made it a requirement to get home insurance.

Yeahaw!!! We got 1 1/8 inches of rain last night and a lot of wind and power outages. I've also got some trees torn up. But we sure are proud of the rain.

That's more rain than we've had since June combined.

I have been through there numerous times. My close friend moved up there for a few years.

I am proud to say we got 3/4 inch of rain early this morning:thumbsup:, with high winds and thunder that shook the house. I absolutely love a good thunderstorm.

I am glad you got some rain Brandi, and I agree about the thunderstorms, it is my second favorite reason to visit Texas!

Rick,
I don't mind being out in them down here, but up in the Panhandle, when the sky turns dark blue, you wanna be near a storm cellar or basement.

Where about is Willis? I have cousins in Corpus Christi, and Dilley. Two years ago, we took the 5th wheel down there. We zig-zaggeddown through Ca, Az, and NM to I10, then took that thru Los Crueces, El Paso, and to San Antonio. Then, south to Corpus Christi, and Pt Aransas.

Robert,
We are an hour north of Houston. On the edge of the East Texas pine forests. You were not anywhere near us. San Antonio is a 4.5 hour drive.

Ya, sounds like a long ways away. Although in Texas, it seemed everything was a long ways :D Sounds like nice countryside though. I have a cousin in Houston too.

Now we need some good week long soaking rains. We have had ) runoff since at least May.

Good deal you guy's got some down South!! With the little rain we've been getting, I actually had to mow the lawn:thumbsup:

Still loosing allot of Oak trees, I don't know if there will be enough moisture in time to save them, some may pull through, but I think we;ll loose quite a few and that is a loss of quite a few growing years.

Yep, everything is a long way here. I drive 62 miles to work. We are just north of The Woodlands, where buildings, houses, and skyscrapers are built around the trees.

That dry north wind was back yesterday evening. There were 3 Lee County grass fires at the same time yesterday. Luckily they were after 6 P.M. and their were lots of volunteers available. Nearby residents and people driving by jumped out with their shovels and rakes to help. Bastrop is still on everyone's mind.

No rain, but the heaviest dew this morning that I've seen in a long time. And 54 degrees is wonderful, even if it does go to 91 as forecast.:D
