Some are. Some aren't. Houston......... we have a problem. The party shut down shortly after I posted. As far north as you are you are probably safe from such annoyances. The ones that are here "legally" learn the ropes and the schedules of the various patrols in whatever area of Dallas they're working in and then pass that info on to relatives south of the Rio Grande. One good thing; I've been able to buy all kinds of trees and brand new lumber from some of these folks. Seems the builders in the area always order too many 30 gallon oak trees and excess plywood so they just give it all to the workers.

With any luck someone living not too far from you will soon be posting about the smoking deal they got on a Ford 1100...

A can of gas and a match?

LOL:laughing:
On another topic the guy who brings our sand for the stalls delivered what he claimed was 10 yards of used asphalt last week. I spread it (looked more like 5-7 yards to me) and when we got deluged a few days later it turned to mush. I paid him $350 for this stuff and we have a 35 year base so it was more for pothole repair. Did I get reamed? I haven't bought road gravel in so long I do not know what the going price is. His sand is always reasonable, IMO.

I was in Frisco (north of Plano) and the problem was growing there also....glad I'm no longer there...

Don't they have code enforcement in your area? I have lived in my house for 28 years and never had anything like that happen. That is pretty disruptive to all the surrounding neighbors. I suppose if it were a wedding or something, I would grit my teeth and endure, but otherwise.....

That's a decent price for 10 yds...if it's really 10 yds. Guys I use know that they're going to have to show me every ticket so I can keep track of actual tonnage delivered. If the material is at all wet, you won't get the yardage claimed per ton. I use RAP, but only as a finish topping for a good base and I'm pretty picky about where it comes from and the oil content it contains. Since RAP comes from road grinding, you have to be careful that what you're buying is off the top and not from bottom layers containing dirt, which will be quite mushy. Lastly, if you had repaired the potholes by ripping to the bottom of them and the surrounding area, then recompacting before spreading the RAP, you'd of had a better outcome.

Doubt it. They prefer newer models:

He must be worried about theft as he always parks that behind trees out of sight from the road:

This one's been living in that motor home for going on 2 years. The metal "barn/house" is what he built with some of all that new lumber he bought a 3AM on a Sunday.:smiley_aafz:

So where are you, then? Your location says Frisco. Not sure there's anywhere safe around DFW. Maybe Highland Park.

I'm out by my brother now (past Little Elm) as I sold my house in Frisco. We've purchased land in upstate NY and once completed, we'll be there.

From the "other" N.E. and can completely relate.
I remember some humid, high 90's temp nights, while living in a student slum, in the South end of Bridgeport.
The Salsa music blaring from party houses on the block would really start to get on my nerves by around 2AM.
Especially on nights when I had exams the next day and really needed to get some sleep.

I have to admit, though, that this was one of the safest parts of the city. The neighbors knew I lived and belonged there.
Nobody came to that neighborhood looking for trouble and I could walk around at any hour of the day or night without fear.
People said hello to each other on the street.
In other parts of that town, you made sure not to make eye contact with anybody on the street and when the sun went down, well, you just better not be around.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the NE would feel immune from it... that's what they have BoltBus, etc., for.

It's kind of funny, my land is in South Texas, 70 miles in a straight line from the border, and while mostly Hispanic, there are very few illegals there and the only time I can hear anything going on is on a holiday like New Year's Eve or 4th of July. Even then, it's not that loud and they usually shut down at a reasonable hour.
