Mike, I can sympathize with that. I'm assuming that you have flood insurance where you live. We should never need it, but I bought it last week anyway because some places around here flooded that have never flooded in the last 150 years.

Mornin Bird,
Just by buying it will protect you from ever having to use it "Murphys' Law " ! ;) :)

I remember back in the February time frame, one the Texas weather "experts" predicting another drought this summer. Sure hope he didn't give his umbrella away based upon his own prediction.

Scotty, that's what I'm sorta countin' on. I'm not in a flood plain either, so mortgage companies do not require flood insurance in this area. There's just one problem. When you buy the flood insurance, it doesn't go into effect for 30 days, so we may get washed away between now and the 19th of next month, but then I figure it'll probably never rain again in Denton County.:D

This morning, we just had a few little sprinkles. I went to Home Depot and probably turned on the wipers for just one swipe a half dozen times. Then just before 3 p.m., we had a 30-40 minute rain that put .3" of rain in my gauge. That rain was over by 3:40 p.m. and I emptied the rain gauge. But at 4:55 p.m. it started to rain again, and it's still raining.:( A couple of hours ago, it had put another 1.5" of rain in the gauge, but now that it's dark, I don't know how much more is there.

I got rained off my job yesteday at 2:30pm with half an inch of rain. Then last night we got another 2 1/4 inches. That's over four inches in the last two days!!!!!!

More is expected today!!!!

Our forecast is down to only an 80% chance.:D Like I said, I had .3" yesterday afternoon, then I didn't go out last night and dump that 1.5" that was in the gauge since we were still getting a light rain when I went to bed last night. At 7:25 a.m. this morning, we were barely getting a sprinkle when I went out and dumped about 2.89" out of the gauge. So, Eddie, that's over 5" in the last two days for me. This morning I was looking at some National Weather Service statistics that showed the wettest June ever for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to be 11.58" in 1928 and the only other double digit June was 10.42" in 2004. I don't know what the official count will be, but I figure I've gotten 13.61" so far in June with 4 days to go and rain in the forecast for every one of them.

80% of homes that do get flooded are NOT even in the 100year floodplain according to the National Flood Insurance program!

I just heard on tv that some town in central Texas got 17.6 in of rain in 6 hours today!.You Texas guys gonna be alright?.

That's a couple of hundred miles south of me, and right now I can't remember whether we have any members in that immediate area, although I know we have some over half way down there from here.

Our local news reported 19+" in one day at Marble Falls. Wow - that's a whole year's rainfall for some areas, probably there in central Texas too. It's hilly too, so the water will be moving pretty well. Had to be widespread flooding. Nasty stuff.
